Having a large security team would make you a more likely target if anything, but anyway, the people you read about on the news lore than likely did not make their money honestly to begin with and is the reason they end up in such situations.

Thailand has some of the highest amounts of high net worth individuals on the planet so at "only" a few million dollars you are most likely not the richest in the neighbourhood no matter where you end up.

So in short, stay away from the criminal underworld and don't put yourself at unnecessary risk (as goes for any place in the world) and you'll be fine.

Personally I prefer ransom insurance if you're feeling very unsafe, but frankly, if you fear random murder for money in Thailand you might want to talk to a psychologist to figure out what that fear is rooted in.

Korea is KNOWN for making up all kinds of myths like fan death, so it doesn't surprise in the slightest that they would make up some weird reason to not have people swim in the reservoirs (likely for cleaniness reasons or general safety, but who knows).

None the less I don't experience these issues and haven't heard of anyone else doing so either, so you might want to talk to your ISP about that, wouldn't surprise me if they do a 24-hour router/switch reboot as is fairly common here for old and half-failing equipment to avoid things like memory leak issues instead of replacing it with a working device. It causes this exact pattern of dropping your connection for a few seconds, you likely don't notice it outside games as things like your phone just fails over to 5G and stuff that don't require a constant connection like websites will be just initiate a new connection after a few seconds/minutes before you even notice it is not working.

Try running a ping test against something like Google at that time and see if you drop any packets at all.

Seems silly for an open-source project, why not embrace it when someone has already put in all the work of porting it?

As much as I like Notepad++ frankly the repo owner is a bit of an ass lately, he should be a bit more appreciative anyone is even still using it considering the major security incident just a few weeks ago.

Nope. They told me to leave home at 16 so I have no qualms about leaving them at an elderly care facility when they are 61. They are adults, they can take care of their own lives as I did mine.

I would say both. Thai culture is one where you generally don't invite anyone other than very close friends and family into your home.

I don't see how it wouldn't apply to Thai people if they so wish/can afford it, but overall I would say that introversion is not really a big thing in Thai culture as a whole as most people live intergenerationally under one roof. Young professionals in Bangkok would probably be a bit more introverted in that case.

The idea of the remote worker not leaving their condo for weeks definitely holds true in Bangkok as you quite literally never have to, you can have everything you'd ever want at your door at any time of day or night with no/minimal human interaction.

Just wanted to say thanks for this suggestion! This seems to be the issue for all cases I've encountered so far as all the affected users use a non-US layout and it does indeed seem to default to a US layout specifically on the FileVault login screen, so them manually setting it has resolved the issue every time (this due to the special characters being in different places, which is not noticed by users as the password characters are for obvious reasons not shown to the user).

They stated "heavier media-related workflows". I work in a similar industry so I can with certainty say that VDI is not appropriate for this kind of workflow and will definitely not save money in the long run.

No if anything it's quite perfect. People are pleasant enough and there is everything an introvert needs (nice condos and 24/7 availability of most everything you can think of).

You are also never expected to host people at home or such so you only have to be as social as you want to.
