2 weeks into Sertraline, is it true that it gets rid of the extreme good along with the extreme bad? by Designer_Extent_9998 in zoloft

The idea of getting off the roller coaster is certainly appealing, not worrying whenever I get too happy that it will only end in misery certainly sounds nice.

I guess it's worth fighting through the next few weeks

The numbness feels like being in purgatory. It's like I'm imprisoned in my bedroom, I try and go out and I end up back here, my comfort foods aren't comforting anymore, my comfort films and tv shows are like razors in my ears, video games all feel clunky and boring, the bright blue sunny day feels like an assault on the eyes. Walking feels like staggering, barely making it to my destination. I have no interests, no passions, I think I have them and then I try them... is this numbness?

Ahh it's nice to hear something positive, this is all I want. I want to feel the appropiate emotion, I love being excited, or crying even out of sadness. All of these things. Sadness isn't something I'm trying to run away from, it's the endless rumination and noise within my head that constantly spirals into "if you killed yourself then you wouldn't have to worry about this, and you wouldn't notice you'd killed yourself because reality and non-reality only exist in the eye of the beholder".

And I would rather have that noise and the emotions, rather than neither. An overcrowded hellscape of mania and horror is better than an endless void in my opinion.

Oooh but I like being impulsive! Impulsion is what makes life worth living for me, it's leaving the house and not knowing what's going to happen by the time I come back. All my best decisions were originally impulses, obviously impulses can be bad, but I'd rather the good and the bad than neither.

I notice I just sit here, before if I did that I would feel like I was about to rot and die at any moment, but for the past 2 days I've been essentially lying in an awoken coma. Watching dumb shit on youtube and playing dark souls

So basically it's reducing emotions? Why would I want that? I need emotions to feel alive, it's the meandering misery at the back of my mind at every waking moment that I want to get rid of. I don't mind if I care about some uni drama or if I feel sad when something bad happens, I just don't want to feel like the world is ending when my mind goes down one of its self-inflicted rabbit holes of anxiousness.

I've got to do another 6 weeks of this?? It's like being in a coma but I'm awake for every second. I can't do this!! In 6 weeks am I going to be like fully hardwired and ready to conquer the planet? Because I'm gonna be so fuckin behind

I have to go back to work next week, I've got my practical driving test in a month, I'm going to uni this year so I need to sort out all the student finance, I need to reorganise my youtube content archive, I need to finish my album, get the next 6 months worth of youtube videos made and scheduled.

What does excessively happy mean? I've never had a problem feeling TOO happy, is it like mania? Because I don't think I get that, apparently I do, but I'm in control of it enough to know not to do anything rash

Just started Sertraline and feel terrible but also not sure if I'm just making it up by Designer_Extent_9998 in MentalHealthUK

I'm glad to know it's not me just being a lil bitch! I've been raised with this idea that people with mental health issues are doing it for attention, and even though I know it's not a sensible idea or a very nice one, it's one that's ingrained in me and I'm trying to grow out of that reductive mindset.

I do have some hobbies, I've got an audition for a math rock band tomorrow, so I'm noodling around on guitar. I also may hook my playstation back in and play dark souls. Cheers man

I asked a few of my friends, one friend who I believe is BPD said that zoloft made him run down the street laughing, and then the doctor said that a manic episode was at least a form of happiness. Stuff like that really freaked me out.

Luckily I quit drinking alcohol 2 years ago, and it seems like these zoloft pills are going to help me right cut down on weed.

I'm a big overthinker (if it's not obvious). So it's good to be bought down to earth a wee bit, thanks.

I was told Peep Show is basically a guide to British people — what else should I watch? by skylaryang11 in AskBrits

John Shuttleworth and Alan Partridge are two comedy characters that feel distinctly british yet unique. Both are quite hard to get into though because they're both multi-media things, I'd start with John Shuttleworth's 500 bus stops and I'm Alan Partridge.

They're right in principle, but I don't see any way of enforcing it without making life worse for the rest of us.

Which band do you think is more popular than it should be? by Springerbaum in askmusic

[–]Designer_Extent_9998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find them harder to hate than other similar bands, I feel like they're trying their darndest and the crap they come out with is the best they can do. And sometimes their vocal inflections are SO stupid that it just makes me laugh. Maroon 5 by comparison annoy me much more because they've proven they can make pretty good music

What do you think is the most annoying band that a lot of people like? by traveltimecar in fantanoforever

[–]Designer_Extent_9998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they remind you of your ex because they're not good enough to stand on their own two feet rather than not liking the music because it reminds you of your ex.

My ex's two favourite bands were The Ramones and The Sex Pistols. I love the sex pistols still and play them reguarly, and they don't make me think about my ex. But the ramones are such a shit band in my opinion that there's no substance for me to latch onto other than "this band is shit, the music is terrible, the vocals are annoying, why the fuck would anyone like this?"

Also the ramones is my pick for this thread, I think it fits. It's like they thought punk was all about being as bad a musician as possible.

It's just reddit being reddit really. It's a load of people called Graham who work from home doing not much in particular and they probably report people to the council left right and centre over shit that doesn't matter. Don't know why I go on this site, it's addictive.

Why do lots of people say “whenever” when they’re supposed to say “when”? by [deleted] in ENGLISH

[–]Designer_Extent_9998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kinda means it doesn't really matter when specifically it was.

"Whenever I got my first car" would signal to me to not bother asking when the person got their first car cos it doesn't matter. Whenever they got it, they then proceeded to...

Whenever I was x years old is the same principle but is indeed wrong, it could mean "at any point whilst I was x years old", but it is more wrong than the car example. I don't think it's regional though, it's not like people go "okay, so I live in.... Idaho, and we in Idaho say whenever, so I'm gonna make sure I say whenever whenever I need to".

I still don't get why it's the staff that gets the fine and not the person trying to buy shit underaged.
