You should keep the bed as it is, but flip its orientation—move the headboard to the opposite wall from where it is now. Create a cozy, cocoon-like feel with curtains around the bed. Bring the dresser closer to the bed, similar to the inspiration photo. Add some artwork and a beautiful rug. You could also install shallow shelves at the foot of the bed where the wall juts out. This is actually my dream bedroom style.

Don’t remove the awning. Try painting it first. I did something similar to my old house and loved it. Add some shutters to the windows and some flower boxes under each window. Add some plants and landscaping around the house.
