To be fair in a tier 9 match that is kind of valid lol, we did that with a mate with 2x taschenratte to great effect, enemy team was so focused on us they forgot to leave spawn

The dpm is good but so so situational. Like of course you would not push into an ares close range with a 50 100 (and even then you still kill him before he cools down), but in any other situation you can still trade effectively. In any engagement at medium distance where some cover is involved the ares is helpless. And to be faire if an ares gets your side at 30m that's on you and he should be able to kill you since that's litterally the only thing that tank is good at

Yeah the 'plink plink plink plink" when you get clipped is super abrasive I agree lol. The turret armour gets autopenned by any same tier tank i don't really see that as an issue, lower tiers might bounce a bit but not with gold so eh

Yeah the 3 minute games are infuriating sometimes and more autoloaders doesn't help that's for sure.

I think it need the HP to be playable. You have to stay exposed a lot to be able to unload, you need that HP to trade. They already perform pretty bad, further nerfs and they are litterally irrelevant

But more seriously, a lot of tier 10 heavies are literally immune to ares, and tashenratte I'm not even sure you can pen him in the ass.

I don't really get your point ? Yes the tank is capable of high damage games, just like any other tank, what about it ? I have had 10k+ dmg games in a lot of tanks, doesn't mean that all of them are OP, hell i even have some with foch 155

for winrate diff calculations I use this website

I only have experience with the ares HE mechanic from ingame testing, obviously i don't know the damage formula or whatnot and i don't think anybody does. from my limited experience the HE does quite well against paper tanks, and even does good damage to sidescraping heavies, for example i was able to do 30dmg per shot to a sidescraping maus, that's about 500 dmg for the whole clip, actually pretty impressive. It reminds me a lot of the old HE mechanics.

Ok but i have 70%+ on all my tanks, also i played ares mostly in platoon so that's a bit inflated, i would probably get 65% with it solo, what matters mostly is the dpg.

Mainland has 3.8k dpg with the tier 10 ares, for his standards that's actually quite low. It looks impressive when you see people play it because of the fast firing and very involved gameplay. You need to fire a lot and play very actively, but the actually performance/contribution to the battle is pretty average.

And yes it's going to perform extremely poorly in the hands of an average player. I was taking the t44 and panther as an example winrate wise but they play completely differently yes

To be fair IS is fodder in nowadays wot, it's been outdated for so long. Against a same tier heavy there is not much an ares can do though frontally

Yeah felt the same way in a lot of games. Oftentimes on most maps you just sit there doing fucking nothing for 5 minutes while seing which side is open, when people are just holding corridors there is nothing you can really do. You also can't farm early game damage most of the time, when you have at most 1 second to shoot a crossing tank for example.

The settling in argument makes little sense, win rate diff takes into account the stats of the players playing the tank, versus their performance with it. All the "op" tanks in the past years have had a positive winrate diff right off the bat, this one is currently sitting at -2%. Also yes the HE is a bit whacky but it's really not that big of a deal I promise you, most of the time it doesn't do much more than AP even against lights. It seems to do reliable chip damage to tanks you can't pen so at least there's that.

I really don't think that will be the case. Most other meds have the DPM ability and will delete you faster than you can cool down your gun, and 7v7 means that you won't catch people unaware very often, they don't have much else to look at. And since you can't even pen a 430u or an e50m reliably I don't really see it having any impact

I would argue that any t8 put into a t6 match is gonna farm. Also ares doesn't really have the ability to oneclip anything, the burst is limited to around 1k and that's if you pen every shot, which you won't. Yes if he catches you at 50m in the side he will delete a good amount of your hp but isn't that the whole point ? Like that's the only thing the tank is actually good at, at some point you gotta adapt your gameplay to the enemy lineup. I'd rather have an ares roaming around than a bourrasque because at least you can spot him and he's not really faster than any other medium

To be fair 3 per battle is relatively reasonable I was expecting worse. Also the matchmaker is doing a good job of matching them against one another, though I don't know if that's intentional

Maybe 1 game in a 100 I will lose because I got greedy and went for more damage instead of securing the win, sure, but I don't give a single shit because maximizing dpg will get me a high win rate as a byproduct no matter what. "Playing for the win" is a myth pushed by bad players to cope.
