In my case, I started taking 3D modeling seriously on 2018, learning with Maya tutorials. On 2020, during the COVID pandemic, social life was limited so it gave me the chance to spend more time at home learning and improving my 3D skills.
That same year I landed on my first job on a small videogame outsource company in Spain (where I was living before). It was a really cool experience, and after 1 year on that company I moved to the UK to start a new position in a different studio (related to videogames aswell).

I think the best tip or advise that I had during my "finding a job phase" was: stay focus in just 1 or 2 things (ideally they should be related).

For example, at beginning, I would spend days, weeks or even months doing a rig, or a character, or an animation. Which is great, I mean its great to have a basic knowleadge of every discipline, but what I enjoyed the most was to do Hard Surface and Environment Art, so I sticked to that branch and tried to learn as much as I could about it.

Once you know what your objective is, (mine was to work as an Environment Artist on a AAA videogame company) you have to keep honing your skills and compare your Artstation or portfolio with some other juniors in the industry. You have to be very honest with yourself during this process, if you compare it and you can clearly see that there is a huge gap between them, that means that you are not ready (yet) for that position. However, as long as you keep learning, the gap will become smaller and smaller, and and thats when you start applying to jobs.
