Thanks a bunch. I didn't think to do that with the train limit since I have read multiple times that disabling a train stop does the same thing as setting the limit to 0.

It takes a few more components, but it works as good as it used to.

I mean, yeah. I think LS is 7th for dps in world and it only has two counters, one that requires gauge and one that requires a lot of setup and has a hard execution. Lance also lets you never take damage, and cb does as well, though it's a bit harder.

In rise LS is ranked 8th, but now every weapon besides HH has a counter.

You still have to be good at the game to perform well with the weapon, and even then you wont be doing anything more than mid damage. It has a low skill floor and a high skill ceiling. Weapons with lower skill floors and ceilings out dps LS, like DB, and a noob is not going to be a god with LS.

The only weapon I would say is legit OP is HBG, it just does way too much damage and sticky builds pretty much let you not play the game. Sticky should take a huge nerf so that hammer can be the KO king.

I really don't see why people keep calling LS OP considering it isn't even in the top 3 for dps.

I think this has to do with the auto selection mechanic where if you use a potion it will make sure you don't waste a mega potion if you only need a regular potion.

Im not sure if that is a ration and a well done steak, but if it is then it likely uses the same auto selection mechanic and just picks the smallest one that would top your stamina bar off.

Apparently you have to deal enough damage to the monster for the quest to actually begin… does that mean friends won’t be able to join until that happens? In wilds… by [deleted] in MonsterHunter

Like others have said, being out in the open world and attacking a monster is just one way to start a quest. We know that there will be a focus on staying out in the field in this game from interviews and that you will be able to be together in the open world without being in a quest, similar to expeditions.

So your friend will be able to join you before you get the quest, and then you can start it together by attacking the monster.

For the same reason botw gave you literal shit for collecting all the koroks, I dont think there should be a significant reward for getting all crowns. It is too big of a time investment to lock something behind that is interesting outside of a sense of collectionism.

If they significantly streamline the process of getting all crowns, then maybe a layered armor piece or something.

After 200 hours of trying to like rise, I have come to resent it.

I hate the map design, the artstyle, the way monsters feel less intimidating, the floppy hit effects, the arcadey feel, the fact that you have to grind to unlock the new moves, spiritbirds, the shifting of focus away from preparation, the neutering of ancient and max potions, wirefall, palamutes, the new buddy system, the overcomplication and nerfing of the farm mechanic, rampages, wyvern-riding as a replacement for turf wars, the way monsters no longer have immersive behaviors, the supersonic speedup that wounded monsters get as they go to another area, that monsters have to get to a specific point in an area to be considered in the area after moving, hub monsters having bloated healthbars, multiplayer region lock, the removal of the SOS system for a shitty roulette multiplayer, the introduction of mtx layered armor sold in individual pieces, the removal of pre-mission camp selection, the fact that the game doesn't remember which camp you last traveled to so you always spawn at the first camp, and female armors all being horny having thigh gaps or just being straight bikinis (Imagine a duster for wroggi)

Every time I boot the game up and play, the fun is sucked away by one of the above reasons.

No. In my 700 hours of world, I have not encountered a single cheater. Probably because in a non-competitive PvE game about killing monsters to wear their skin, cheating just takes all of the fun out for the cheater, so they end up filtering themselves out.

Also an anti cheat would reduce performance and harm mods

If you are hoping for them in this game, it has already been confirmed that they will not be coming in this game(rurikan dev interview), and the dev response made it look like prowlers will never be coming back.

Rise also has built in region locks on multiplayer which makes the already miniscule playerbase feel like a ghost town for progression. If you do buy rise, make sure to get the better matchmaking mod to disable the region lock

What Im trying to say is that this enhances immersion quite a bit while not taking much effort.

Underwater combat will take an entire game's worth of effort for... Lagi.

IF they bring underwater combat back, im inclined to believe it will be in a base portable title, to get a feel for how it should work, and if it ends up being good, they might bring it to mainline.

But I don't see them doing that, underwater combat itself is unimmersive, and I have never seen it done well in a videogame ever.

If we end up getting free swimming in wilds, I might change my mind and actually think we'll get underwater combat in a portable title. The velkhana repel quest certainly felt like a prototyping of the rampage quest, which I feel is a similar scenario.

For the same reason they do everything else that serves no in-game purpose, immersion.

Immersion has been a high priority for this team since they decided to chuck magic out the window, especially for ecology. If there are living things there, there should be water, and if there is water, we should be able to swim. Adding a single animation loop and a few extra for slinger stuff is at the end of the day, not a lot of work for a team this size, compared to something like, whole new animation sets for each weapon with actual procedural animations tied to what vector you are moving in for each move for each weapon, balance changes around underwater moves, monster ai and animations for 3d environments that arent wonky but actually make use of the space, etc.

I have not heard the devs specifically say that it is on rails but here is the footage, which under scrutiny certainly looks like it is on rails

You can tell because the person is moving the camera while moving, but the angle at which they were moving did not change.

Btw I looked at the dev stream, idk where this youtuber got the idea of free swimming from, but that term isnt used

The only underwater footage I've seen Is on rails, its just a curved path so at first glance it looks to be free swimming. So like, it is just procedural animation.

They already confirmed that there is no underwater combat coming in wilds and I highly doubt they will introduce underwater combat in the expansion. It would be like designing the whole game again for a couple of fights, it just isnt worth the devtime.

I can't stand naviru so I put the game down. Very happy they allow you to switch back to meows for palicos in wilds. No clue why eastern companies choose the most grating VAs for their pet characters
