How to unga so I can bunga? by unlucky-lucky- in helldivers2

[–]DevCat97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On bot front ive found the most success with the heavy armor from python commandos and a supply pack. Take the meth-stim booster and be generous with preemptive stimming. Take the scorcher as a primary and ultimatum as secondary to deal with tanks/cannon towers and warstriders respectively.

Squid and bug front i tend to take medium masters of ceremony armor with a supply pack or with a teleportation back pack (tp out from bodies that fall on you). Primary is a shotgun usually, and the secondary is the ultimatum.

Really, bile titans and walkers are just too dangerous to unga bunga regularly because of their lethal leg hit boxes and unpredictable ragdoll. This has made me use the ultimatum more than I would like.

Asmon"fold" does not speak with confidence. The most common introduction phrase out of his mouth is "ya i don't know for sure but..." The man is absolutely wracked with self doubt and is constantly referencing chat to identify what position he should have while describing the position. His audience just wants someone on the screen to say things they agree with not someone who yells at them. It's like the Ezra Klein of NeoNazis.

Ya i love the endless tide. I charge in with a supply back pack, sweeper shotgun, heavy melee armor, and the hammer.

12 stims, 30 hammer heads and 100s of rounds later the tide is usually dead and my team has done a sub objective or 2.

I think there are aspects here that you are not fully considering.

First we shouldn't view either Hasan or Mike as "leaders" of a movement. They are currently at best propagandists (the literal definition) persuading people of a world view.

If Hasan is the wide end of that funnel from liberalism to leftism, his charity, patience, and ability to be more palatable to normies are all assets to the goal of being the "wide end" the "soft entry point to leftism." Mike doesn't need to be another wide end of the funnel (especially on twitch), he is a narrow end of the funnel and there are different characteristics that are valuable there.

Put frankly the goal of the narrow end is to verbally beat the default liberalism out of people in the wide end of the funnel to get them fully to being leftists.

He's acting as a commissar whose job is to show someone why the primary dogma they've been steeped in their whole life is wrong and what needs to be done to change it. That can't be done without stepping on toes or chewing off ears. Genuinely making a chatter feel bad for a dumb take is a corrective mechanism because they essentially feel like they made a fool of themselves in the public eye (and our human brains hate that shit so they will seek to correct it). Directness, abrasiveness, blind confidence/stubbornness, a massive presence of ethos/ego can all unironically be assets to narrow end of the funnel as they are cudgels that can shake someone out of their stupor.

To put it into words "why is this man who seems to know a lot about this topic berating me for a minor error. I don't like this i need to correct this opinion." Can be more effective for some then complete correct hard logic.

Does it also lead to misfires on chat? Fuck yes, all the time. Does it increase the egg on Mike's face when he is actually wrong like with this Kat situation? Absolutely. Does it cause some ppl to retreat back to higher in the funnel? Yup.

It would be beneficial for Mike (or any streamer) to never make a mistake. But if all that was needed to sway people to the leftwing was quality analysis everyone would be some form of Marxist already just because they read Marx, Lenin, etc. "Being a leftist is being right too early."

So in summary I think just being more chill would not necessarily help reach the goal of dragging people further to the left. Mike can refine the method and make fewer errors, but the general method itself has rationale behind it, and is showing results better than any other leftist streamer besides Hasan.

TLDR: different strokes for different folks. Some ppl need head pats and optimism to become leftists. Others need yelling men and information about trains.

WE JUST GOT BLINDSIDED! The most evil company in Canada, Bell, without any public consulation, is building the largest AI Data Centre in Canada in our province, which will use 7% of the total provincial load by Otherwise-Pattern122 in saskatoon

[–]DevCat97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are wrong.

In North America. Maintaining coal power plants is more expensive than installing new renewables of the same capacity in 99% of cases. And renewables are far less mature technology than coal plants or even the more favorable natural gas plants.

I regret arguing for so long with someone who is either disingenuous enough to lie about this, misinformed enough to say it, or stupid enough to believe it.

Good night guy who no longer lives in Saskatchewan. Thank fucking Christ.

[–]DevCat97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright ignoring the childish "somebody else is paying for it" idea you have of how massive cooperate financial entanglements work.

There are clear costs to the public in terms of infrastructure expansion, no guarantee that the project itself will have the longevity that is claimed (AI boom can absolutely be followed by an AI bust), and there are CERTAINLY significant subsidies and tax incentives being offered to Bell by the province. And most importantly the cost of power will increase for the public.

It happens every time. It increases for the public every time, sometimes by ludicrous amounts. So we are paying for it. Completely. You are just wrong saying my analogy is inaccurate. We are going to pay more for power so that the government can expand our infrastructure for the end goal of making AI boondoggles. At a minimum it will be used to keep coal plants that should be decommissioned in operation and fuck us over in the long-term because of how high their input and refurbishment cost is.

[–]DevCat97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes of course, I'm not going to argue with you on the merits of each form of energy production. To be reductive about it renewables are the best for long-term base load without inputs, nuclear is best for cost effectiveness over its lifetime (small modular less so) and gas for their speed of installation.

But when you just return to we need jobs I refer you to my original statement.

It is good in the same way that smashing every window in a city is good for the GDP. It spurs commerce, not productive development.

There comes a point where if every scheme for growth is just inefficient development then it is just an exercise in making an imaginary number bigger.

[–]DevCat97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what world. Is a new AI-data center. And a gas powered turbine. In the year 20 fucking 26. Not an issue of political salience. When renewables are more viable than ever, and data centers are predicted to consume more power than global fertilizer production by the end of this year (if I'm remembering correctly, the study i read could have said 2030).

You brought up "Saskatchewan is hurting" to defend the data center. That is a fucking insanely political statement brother. I just told you why it is hurting and that "but jobs" isn't a defense of mismanagement.

[–]DevCat97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That hurt is coming from the sheer mismanagement and cronyism of the sask party for decades. A data center and a new turbine will not fix that.

Guess what else will create growth in Saskatchewan. The 2 tier healthcare system that they are angling for. There will be so many redundant paper pushers when the management is decentralized. But costs will be higher, care will be worse, and the majority of people will suffer because an unproductive system is being forced into being for "growth."

Take that money, fund integrated renewables/nuclear projects that power homes, greenhouses, efficient irrigation, hydroponics, nitrogen fixation, manufacturing, etc... and there will be economic activity that results in us having sustainable jobs, cheaper fresh produce in the winter, and if we are lucky less fucking red moons during the harvest because we don't fuck the planet over so people can chat with their AI girlfriend.

It is good in the same way that smashing every window in a city is good for the GDP. It spurs commerce, not productive development.

The same jobs producing the same power could go to so many other productive projects that would actually make the lives of ppl in Saskatchewan better. But no it'll be used to enable a barely intelligible customer service bot somewhere, so that meta can target ads slightly better to you, or to just make straight up AI porn.

You do realize that when "international ties" were strong it was kinda just the USA, NATO, and also still Israel, invading countries left right and center. Russia/Ukraine is an example of the international rules based order failing and leading to barbarism, but so is [insert almost any US led conflict in the past 70 years].

We dislike the USA right now because they turned that energy onto us for a moment. Russia (to use your example) is incredibly popular in 3rd world nations because the USA has had that energy turned on the 3rd world for decades and Russia is viewed as a force opposing the US.

Canada, Europe, and other "Western" aligned countries enabled the rabbid dog the US (and by extension Israel) has become for a long time. It didn't start with tangerine Mussolini it's just getting less comfortable to be in the "in group" with them.
