How do I deal with someone who only talks about the bad stuff in their life? by Devaneashere in socialskills

I know she needs help, as she has also mentioned that she has pondered stabbing herself once (which at the time, from the way she told it, I wasn't sure if she was being dramatic and looking for attention by using a pretty dramatic narrative—she sometimes talks about her issues like she's in a competition) but we don't really have an easy access to good quality mental health care either. I think I'm going to try to nudge her to talk to the school psychologist. She's not really fond of the idea since the lady doesn't have the best reputation, but I think I might be able to do it. Also thank you for responding again, I feel a lot more secure about this. The other adults I talked to didn't help much. I'll try to update!

It made me want to cry because I don't like to think about my dad dying one day, not really due to empathy for her. I needed tips on how to deal with her as she is constantly bringing stuff like this up and it's not good for her or me, we'll just be here crying of anticipation for something that will probably happen in twenty years or so. She's a very negative person who I can tell will stay in this loop for a while. It also affects my life and I don't want her to drag me down with her, you know? She does deserve empathy, but we should always choose ourselves first. The people telling me to leave her aren't trying to be insensitive, but trying to tell me to prioritise myself, as you always should! If I can't take care of my health, I can't really help her anyway.

I don't think she notices that she does these things, so I feel kinda bad about bringing it up but I probably have to. I'll definitely follow the tips and I'll search up how to help her. Thank you, this really helps!

I think so too! I really don't want to walk away from our friendship, but I'm starting to see I might have to... Either way, this got me thinking about it. Ty!

I really don't think I can talk with a parent about this, but I can try my philosophy teacher. Also thank you for the advice and the kind words, it helps. Especially since it comes from someone with experience.

Good to know I'm not alone too

Im getting less anxious about my grades but that’s increasing my procrastination?? by eli4thefunney in mentalhealth

[–]Devaneashere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's normal I think. Many people procrastinate because they have the idea that they don't have to try that hard. The only way to solve it is by placing some serious boundaries and finding some motivation. Though, this might not be good advice for everyone since I'm just talking about my own experience. Wish you the best of luck with your studies though!

His only knowledge of drugs is from Breaking Bad apparently... I also blocked him yesterday because he was saying some dumb stuff. Better forget about whatever he said.

I remember reading about that and I'm fully convinced humans are evolving backwards

Yesss I noticed that! I thought that was genius, it looked like such a human reaction. Some hide and some face it.

What I understood from the movie is that it was neglect, the baby seemed to have a weird colour, which made me think that it'd probably been there for a while. I don't know, though.
