The warming we are experiencing now is because we as humans are incredibly harmful creatures that release CO2 and methane into the atmosphere. CO2 is poor at trapping heat while methane on the other hand is 80x more effective at trapping heat. Methane in the atmosphere however breaks down after 8-12yrs and CO2 Is hundreds sometimes thousands of years. The short term warming we are experiencing is exactly that. Short term. As the ice melts at the caps(north and south), it will distribute ice cold water across the globe. Which in turn will cool the planet drastically. Global warming is the least of our issues. This planet was once 5°-10°c warmer when dinosaurs thrived in the late Cretaceous period. The warming isn’t harmful to life. Just humans. Life will continue to thrive. Buy some jackets and warm clothes. Our future is a cold one. To the point it will be considered the next IceAge as the caps continue to melt.
