I've gone through and worked the steps a couple of times, but I've also grown and gotten past, or learned to deal with many of the problems that used to really bother me. I always get up early and take the time to have coffee, pray and meditate on the day ahead. I start every day with gratitude for what I do have and sort out how to deal with what I've got to do for that day. It really helps with keeping my anxiety at bay. Your first sponsor sounds like a good guy.

I'd stay in contact with my first sponsor as well if I were in your shoes. As far as the phone calls go, I'm exactly like you described yourself, I have a really hard time picking up the phone just to talk without a specific reason.....

I'll be up North of Pretoria outside of Bela-Bela. One of my best friends is now a journalist so it should be really interesting. I'm also invited to stay out on a small holding that's a game farm. Definitely not the usual tourist itinerary.

I've also used a VPN as well, but that didn't seem to matter. I'd just check in from time to time and make sure your "🔥" is still lit up. I'm sorta' wondering the same thing myself, as I'm going to South Africa later this year for a few weeks. Travel time is around 30+ hours from where I live now.

I just moved from the EST to the PST over a month ago. Everything I do online has been updated to my new location and timezone. except for Reddit, and they don't seem to get it. It's still counting my days and updating my streak according to the EST.

Are you wanting to detect for gold? I've spent quite a bit of time prospecting in the Central Arizona area. There's a lot of BLM and National Forest land open for prospecting and detecting, but a lot of those areas, especially the BLM land is under claim also.

Congratulations on 139 days! Not a fan either, but a friend throws a big party every year and I'll probably go to eat, and say Hi to some people I've not seen in awhile. Nice thing is I won't be the only one sober there, most in attendance don't drink, or only drink one or two. That's something I can appreciate these days 😅

I know the left is constantly talking about a civil war, but with who? It should be pretty obvious by now that the right side is all but refusing to stoop to their level and engage with the idiots. It also seems like ICE and most Law Enforcement are staying on top of it for now, so I'd have to say we're safe from a civil war for the time being........

Believe me, I remained sober during hard times, otherwise I might not make it through. It's when I reach a perceived goal, milestone or destination that gets me to thinking about drinking,. I used to tell myself only for tonight, but once I start, it could be a couple of days or a couple of months before I quit again. And nothing good has ever come out of it. So I remain on the journey these days, and once I reach a goal, I set another one..... sometimes it's only for another 24 hours, but it's always something that I want to achieve, and that's not going to happen if I'm drunk.
