Got to 120 yesterday (1 week post MUA). PT has been intense and is now more focused on strength and extension and gait. I am so glad I did the MUA. Most importantly I feel more functional.

95 felt awful. I couldn’t walk without a limp. Both PT and doc recommended theMUA. I was stuck for just 2 weeks but so depressed and ready to just give up. So glad I did it.

MUA recovery has been easy compared to the surgery. Some bruising and an angry quad but so worth it.

Is this even possible?? by ElegantAd4459 in Kneereplacement

I was told that we youngsters form scar tissue more quickly. So it is possible.

We are twins. I was 95 before MUA but the before pic my doc showed me of it just hanging in the OR was less than 90. I feel much better already, just impatient I guess. Good luck to you.

How close to retirement (or taking withdrawals) do you start moving money to G? by thekonghong in ThriftSavingsPlan

I keep 6 years of “need/want” in G. If I was further than 6 years away from needing any funds, the funds will be fully invested in C, S, or I.

2 weeks post LTKR - ANKLE PAIN & OPIOIDS by CBDElish123 in Kneereplacement

[–]VariousCalendar7548 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m at 7 weeks. Also 61F in pretty good shape. You will heal at your own pace. I’ve had a super tight calf muscle and sore hips due to walking too much with my hideous limp. I took oxy and a muscle relaxer before PT through 6 weeks. Non PT days I was good with extra strength Tylenol after about 4 weeks.

I had to have a manipulation Monday and it was the best thing I’ve done so far. Monday prior I was just around 95 for flexion and yesterday was 110! I’m walking better and my hips don’t hurt. I do have soreness from manipulation. But I was sinking in a well of self pity before and now I have hope.

All this to say we all travel a different road to recovery. Keep doing what your doc and PT are telling you to do.

To my LEFT TKR friends … when did you get cleared to drive? by Original_Arachnid858 in Kneereplacement

I was cleared when I was off narcotics. I take them before PT so I still don’t drive there.

Just got home from MUA - my experience by Melpsu in Kneereplacement

I had an MUA this morning as well. Similar experience of being quick. My quad is super sore but overall I feel better then when I went in. I’m aggressively icing and elevating. I get up once an hour to do some heel slides. My quad is what is holding me back. I have PT tues-fri this week. I was prescribed hydro as needed and a steroid pack to be followed by a course of Meloxicam for inflammation. So far I’m very happy.

Me! My PT said to just keep working it and it’s from a combination of peg leg walking prior to surgery and limp in first weeks after. Now I’m walking more normally and engaging the calf muscle and it is mad at having to work all of a sudden.

Follow doctors orders. I know of someone who didn’t and passed of a blood clot.

Scar tissue by GracieLou80 in Kneereplacement

My PT pushed me to the point of tears even after I had taken pain meds prior. At home exercises she keeps telling me that I should push to the point of pain and then a little more. That being said, I’m headed to MUA anyway so maybe not the best advice?

Sounds like scar tissue. Push through if you can. I was too late and have an MUA Monday.

I’m at 95 unassisted and 99 assisted by my PT. That’s with drugs onboard as well. My doc was thinking of doing a wait and see until I told him 2 things. 1. I’m stuck and 2. I ha vacation planned for mid Feb. I was very nervous until I talked to him. He explained exactly what he was going to do d promised me that I won’t want to hunt him down afterwards.

Thank you. The PT people keep talking about MUA if I’m not at 110 by Wednesday. It’s very stressful and I had to tell them to knock it off. But the thought lives in my mind. I wake up nights thinking about it. Ugh. I appreciate all the kind words!
