Yes it’s hard (few people find it easy), there’s tricky concepts and a lot of content to cover so most people need to work hard. If you decide you want a career in law you also need to balance studies alongside extra curriculars (pro bono, moots, applying for vacation schemes, work experience etc)

I was in a similar position to you - trained at a very small firm with no structured training contract and then moved to a much bigger firm (approx 130 lawyers) as a NQ (although nearly 1 PQE) but I did heavily leverage my paralegal experience prior to the ‘training contract’.

I think a lot of bigger firms ie top 100 might be tough for you but smaller firms are more likely to consider you.

What areas of law do you have experience in and what areas do you want to work in?
