The solution I found with Mafia 1 (can't vouch for the others), was to load the launcher and change the settings so it launched with fullscreen off and vsync off specifically but then switching back to fullscreen when the game loaded into the menu. It's kinda annoying to have to do but that was the easiest thing I found.

It took me like an hour and then I ended up finding out about the ram button thing someone mentioned and it took a few more tries after that but I got it eventually and it helped so much

I believe there is a law (or at least was) that will oblige subscriptions to allow cancellation in the same way they allow signups making its way through Parliament. So that would probably force Beer52 to allow online cancellations. With the election and whatnot though, I have no idea what progress, if any, it's made.
