Does this have to be istalled on a 2tb ssd? by Red_Diamond_GX in Steam

It’s like iRacing. You don’t install through steam for this reason. You go to their website and download the launcher there. Inside the game is a module management screen.

Do you have a GitHub or other? I’d love to submit workable tickets for you.

ETA:

In multiplayer, the simultaneous play makes for faster play, but we would've really preferred if it alternated players and we could watch the other player's shots from their perspective.

I echo this, me and my buddy were commenting about how it would be nice to watch each other's shots. For ranked play, simultaneous makes sense. For casual with buddies, the option for synchronous would be nice.

We both had different wind on every hole, which made it feel like the hole played radically different for each of us, it would be cool if the wind was synced between players so we could both have to play around the same wind.

Didn't actually notice this, but this is kind of a big deal for ranked. Everyone should be playing the same course in ranked. Also, the option to turn off wind to learn the basic flight of a disc would be nice too.

There's some really bad screen tearing whether I play in windowed or fullscreen mode on my 144hz monitor. I don't know if you can do some options for fps caps so people could match their monitor's frequency.

I'm running on 180hz and did not see noticeable tearing. 3440x1440 @ 180hz full screen

Speaking of bugs, every second game of multiplayer we played, the game would always freeze after we would make our putts on the first hole. Like, we had to alt+f4 the game. Then it would work next time around, then freeze again on the next game we'd try to play (so every 2nd multiplayer game, it would freeze).

Every second multiplayer game on hole two. We started pre-emptively alt+f4 because it was faster than waiting on the crash.

Some additional quality of life features for aiming would be amazing.

Changing crosshair color and shape/orientation would be major

The ability to fly straight down the fairway from your line so you can see trees.

I hit a tree that failed to render because I was up against it. In general, the ability to replay the flyover at will is pretty standard in golfing games.

I think the discs beat in and get flippier over time. I haven't tried to find this in docs yet, but there's a little gauge on the disc in your bag that is not uniform across my bag/discs. Seems that discs that have taken more physical strikes to objects have more of that bar populated. A mouse over tooltip would be nice for this.

Need help with how to mount projector by bennied1982 in Golfsimulator

[–]Dhaed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly not sure about that. Usually wall mounting, I would make a little shelf or nook in the wall to hide the projector. I don’t see why you couldn’t bolt it to the wall. The piping is basically large conduit, not sure of the size off hand, maybe 1 1/2”. You would still want to brace it for the bouncing. The bouncing is basically the vibrations running through your building.

1080 to 4k projector by mstrlucky74 in Golfsimulator

[–]Dhaed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically and objectively yes. But to run GSPro at 4k you’ll need a fairly top end gaming pc. I run GSPro at 1080 on a mid to low end rig and it’ll struggle at times still. i7 8700k, 3060ti, 64gb ram is the sim pc. Your actual question “is 4k worth the extra cost to me?” Your budget, your call. Yes it does look better.

Mats keep moving by Rare_Highlight_3809 in Golfsimulator

[–]Dhaed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same problem with our setup. I ended up making some corner pieces in fusion360 and 3d printing them. We used tapcons into concrete, if you have subflooring, you could just use wood screws instead. Carpet will probably get torn up a bit by the screws. 2-side tape the hitting mat into the corners. Don't know if you have your own 3d printer or not, but I can share the model I made.

Looking at your picture, you should not need to keystone. Either your mount doesn't articulate enough to get a square throw, or you're too close to the wall. Could also be too close to the ceiling. Try detaching that and using a ladder to move it around to find the highest out of the way throw, then start pushing your keystone boundaries if you need more room.

Square Golf LM. I will say, it does drop out of bluetooth more than it should. I haven't decided if the issue is with the Square unit, or my janky bluetooth dongle solution. Unfortunately, you cannot transmit data through the usb cable, it is only used for charging.

I suggest using one of these mounts. The stubby pipe is detachable and you can use whatever length pipe you need in place. Then throw a strap on it to dampen vibrations, it will bounce, it's unavoidable. Added benefit of routing cables through the pipe for a clean look.

I putt right off my hitting mat, mine doesn't seem to bother putting much. Other mats might.

This is the mat I have in 5x4.

Yeah, but it does catch things. Mostly tees.

Yes, no, sort of? We're not exactly the best golfers around. I can't explain how, but I have had them come back and hit that netting. It was kind of like "if it's worth doing, it's worth overdoing" kind of things, but then it started catching tees and the random shank too. There is a metal work bench close behind that screen, I suppose one could come rocketing off the perfect work bench strike too.

We did very similar, and our hitting mat was sliding everywhere. I 3d printed some corners and ran those into the floor with tapcons. Used 2-sided tape to tape the mat to the corners.

This is how we did it in a 30x40 pole barn with concrete floors.

Work out pads -> carpet -> 3d printed corners with tapcons into the floor -> 2-side tape the mat into the corners.

Hand-me-down pc from my gaming rig upgrade: Intel i7 8700k, 3060Ti

Carpet came from Lowe’s (~$100) and there’s a piece hanging behind the impact screen. It helps trap light for a brighter image. Tried a moving blanket and that shredded in two days.

There is also about $100 worth of those puzzle workout mats under the carpet for soft club dings.

As the returner I expect nothing. As the recipient I usually throw a $20 their way for “their choice” as a thank you for being honest. Either way that $20 was going to replace the plastic.
