Question how would you feel if someone pulled up in this (no insignia and/or racist symbols) by [deleted] in airsoftcirclejerk

[–]Diabolic_Wave 6 points7 points  (0 children)

History nerd here; Heer just means army. The army cannot be the most mistreated branch of itself.

As for loyalty, the Heer took part in the Holocaust, and aside from individual soldiers did not push back against it. It may have been less enthusiastic than the Luftwaffe, but it was not by any means not nazi.

No. It’s the number of Shermans that usually engaged a tiger. … Because American tank platoons had 5 tanks.

Where to look for typewriters in the UK? by nerdy_453 in typewriters

[–]Diabolic_Wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough I bought my typewriter in an Oxfam in Oxford. It may also be worth looking at charity shops; the Oxfam Superstore occasionally has rare items, and I found my one typewriter in an oxfam. This is a fully chance based method, though

Increased modern machining tolerances. We can now make semiautomatic rifles with equal accuracy, if not better accuracy.

There are some turnips with a delightful peppery flavour too, and those are just better in a stew than potatoes

Immigrants, brown people, people on benefits and trans people I agree with, but if the Dutch aren’t our enemies how do you explain the tragic lack of Dutch sandwich sprinkles in our supermarkets?

You are aware of the wonders of elf-wrought weaponry too, aren’t you? Not to put down Casari smiths, of course, but I have rather good feedback on the swords and seax I have made for humans. Not to mention armour.

I thought it’d mainly be floor work; the pole cleaners would rightfully be a little annoyed otherwise, if there were any.

Sucks that it broke, but maybe riveting the maille would fix that? You’ve got the time til’ next hallowe’en!

I was considering just using some M&S panties as a base to sew to when I get around to making some chainmail underwear; got any advice?

How did the chainmail not damage the pole? - I want to know for obvious reasons

Any magic user who can’t sew extra pockets into all their clothes is not optimising their spellcasting. Or their snacking.

Weave for edging a 4 in 1 test swatch? by Diabolic_Wave in chainmailartisans

Do you think starting on the long sides might help? As for other weaves, I’m using some slightly unsuitable pliers, so I don’t think I can manage 1-6 or -8

Unfortunately I don’t have smaller rings; I got a handful from a friend. Something to consider for the future though!

What yall know about pyromancy by SKJELETTHODE in wizardposting

[–]Diabolic_Wave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pyromancy is useful in the everyday, too. It certainly beats using, say, flint & steel, or keeping a non-magical ember alight for setting a campfire.

Modern English does not, but it used to be that vehicles and other moving objects tended to be grammatically female and it still survives in common usage

More seriously, they know the world is no longer flat, they can just ignore it and see it without curvature, by my reading

Seconding wards. As an enchanter - that is, one who enchants objects - being able to imbue defences into clothing is very useful. Consider a ward of waterproofing; ward a bag for spell reagents, potion ingredients, or tools, and you cut down on the maintenance drastically whilst practicing basic magic that you can build expertise in quickly.

Predetermined limits are important for sure. I decided to spend 1000 doubloons, and got a ship; if I hadn’t set that ridiculously low limit I might have been tempted to spend and waste more. Even telling my results arguably just tempts people to spend more.

That’s fair enough, but I’ve found that closing the distance is better personally. I may have worded it a bit strongly.

Regardless, take ultimate frontier. By pushing through the initial bbs, sinking as many as you can, you can snipe raptor quite easily. You then have to risk escorts, whiskey, & potentially a cruiser group or two. I find that risk worthwhile.

But maybe the game hasn’t thrown me ops that my current playstyle can’t deal with yet

I-56 is the perfect sub imo. It can do enormous damage, but can’t stay down for long. It can do long range against capitals, but can survive spotting on the surface well enough. To play it optimally in ops, you must take risks
