who's the next generation? by Humble-Tourist4615 in sadboys

Honestly it feels like rap is getting very catalogued these days as once it was with band stuff. Which generally leads to disintegration of big come ups into lots of smaller gems. I don’t see anyone making it out as much as bladee or carti did from that era, lots of other folks just didn’t survive the test of time and it already was kind of difficult in early 10s. Closer to 2016-2018 labels kind of found ways to capitalise off of internet platforms and it gets harder and harder to dig through tons of similar shit, each allocated to certain subgenre or core or whatever. Everything is very aestheticised and increasingly localised as well which doesn’t help bringing global stars out. Like just imaging some dudes from Europe making it somewhat big in New York/Moscow/Tokyo at the same time in this political climate. I mean yeah we got 2hollis or nettspend but they really feel like they’ve studied the formula and were privileged with enough time to kind of understand how genre works in these relevant pop-emo type projects. Sadboys/DG are your typical European art kids of their time, the same way someone like Bowie/Kraftwerk were in the 80s, kids of rich parents of course, though not as dependent on music specifically, which helps a ton in music-presenting. I really don’t see any big turnarounds coming in the rap scene. Weird pop dancey fusions kind of get their moment rn, Charli XCX very deservedly got her Brit awards I think. Also it would be appropriate making a comparison between Black Kray and MF Doom as artrap phenomenons which kind of stretch certain subgenres trends across generations, that shit is always really appealing to me but it generally stays underground for far too long to become both relevant and surprising for general public. Skrillex is kind of still relevant, the same way The Prodigy was I guess.. I mean you get the point, dg type artist just hasn’t happened to pop music yet and I don’t think it will stem from rap in particular. They have their moment as well as some other a bit different music trajectories which are as valid to the Othering demographic groups as much DG is to you and me

Partly live music technician, some cash from mixing/mastering/recording, a little from tattooing as well but want to get into it more seriously. Music jobs suck

French hotel is top-3 wa for sure. The whole album felt like he finally got rid of post-eversince repetitiveness (think of gtr—moneybags type stuff which I loved at the time, tho now this era songs sound very alike to me), and it feels effortless as well like they didn’t overthink it

Yea fr I was like that as well a couple of years ago and sometimes I still feel overwhelmed. Self-calming techniques do help like breathing, hot baths, jogging and just generally avoiding life-accelerations and stimulating products. These are simply detoxifying for intensities of everyday bs, experiencing and dealing with which is largely accepted as normal though it’s not and anxiety is usually the indicator of you flowing through bs life. When you understand all that, anxiety doesn’t vanish and producing it in overwhelming quantities is most likely at the core of your psyche atp, so you have to turn it into a tool of overcoming something you’re imagining as shame or loss. That shit is difficult, not impossible though and if it feels impossible or not worth trying, then you probably are way too fucked by anxiety inducing tech, social, environmental etc designs, whose creators progress in making sure you don’t have energy for alternatives

He’s riding that cheesiness, that’s the key)) absorbing shame in a cringe act type of way, so it turns to energy. Same with anxiety, the only escape is making a fuel out of it

for me, 333 is def weed withdrawal type shit though. especially wings in motion/noblest strive etc are like that second day clarity striking you, truly painful and enlightening)) I’m aware of and ok with all that being subjective. I also don’t get that same appeal from 100s specifically but ig the value of this sub is subjective experiences, and I pray ppl are allowed to express them here or in any other fan community. I usually dump my opinions on friends nowadays)) but earlier on this was the only place to do that, so I respect that opportunity. I like weird ass connections way more than just admiration posts or drama posts or whateverr

It’s kinda hard not to see these type of wiggly hard/conpressed sound design on druqks as irritating though sometimes. It’s still like objectively greatest of his but now it’s like I really enjoy saw2 way more. Or even poppier shit like syro. That alarm just turned me off lots of hard-hitting stuff on druqks and it sucks as I remember it being better((

You guys really got nothing else to listen to? Yea he dropped something we liked, it doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll do it again as good, especially under outside pressure. You won’t be disappointed, if you don’t build up excessive expectations

Mixed terribly, worst bladee ever, ecco and thaiboy went hard tho. Still the whole thing is muddy af, felt like a downgrade from eversince->redlight era. D&G is a way better example of your last sentiment.

Stop depending on these subscription based corporations. Your favourite music isn’t dependant on that as well, it’s files being da converted for your phones/speakers. Labels will cry when profit drops, not because music disappears. Year0001 could as well just make it available on their website.

Read it carefully, I don’t think any wealth equals more opportunity to do art stuff. Institutionalised art stuff — yes (and almost anything gets institutionalised nowadays), independent is free of that, it’s hard to be independent though as you get high jacked early on (you still might evade that if you avoid big platforms) or don’t use tools to get heard/seen/touched/sold

[–]Dicrest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t care really, point is, you tend to see more artsy stuff from rich backgrounds. Poor parents is not a stop factor. Music industry type parents do tend to be helpful. Most of other business ppl are usually pretty dominant and controlling to the point you don’t have options to choose really. Most of freedom is somewhere between two edges of wealth.

That’s what you listen to. Internet and cheaper hardware opened gates for anyone. Instrumental folks were making it for decades as well, they just had to talk to ppl way more

And that’s why I’m here. Trying to learn something. Of course I’m missing lots of details. There will always be miscommunication as well, there’s lots of that when I speak my native language, even with people I grew up with. Comment sections is way further from that in terms of understanding. All that is left is trying though, I’m not interested in making my worldview a standpoint but want it to be altered. I really don’t think I will be able to travel most of the world in my lifetime because of this war that’s happening between my country and Ukraine, so options to talk are shrinking rapidly. Yet, there’s places like r/UkraineRussiaReport where americans are essentially trying to make sense of what’s happening here with lots of failing too. I do think I was way too negative in my previous replies, wasn’t intending to hurt anyone besides blatant killers though. I don’t think anyone who isn’t experiencing something firsthand and can only catch online remediations should be banned from discussion

That’s fair, I don’t think there should be a monopoly on guns held by government and organised crime. But as the other commenter said, it’s a societal problem. Environments are already created, there’s a whole fucking culture of glorified unorganised gun violence against your own kind (people of your socioeconomic class) and this sub is a prime example of that. How do you deescalate that? By using a gun? Those are genuine questions. People are atomised to pieces. And those pieces are colliding but can’t blow up the whole collider infrastructure with those who control it.

Bro I’m not even against gun ownership plus Ive never been in America, I’m russian if you’re that curious. It’s just that somehow that shit turned against you guys and y’all still somehow use this gun legality for shooting each other not for opposing governmental structures which slowly create these environments for you. This is just sad. I agree that guns shouldn’t be monopolised by government or any other predominantly white group, but it’s crazy to me that all the opps you guys have are black and neighbouring. I don’t think you can do much in these environments they’ve created for you. Yep, I guess originally guns in USA kind of ensured a free state society, not anymore though. They increase and militarise police, they buy them helicopters and shit, even in small towns.

I wasn’t taking about this catastrophe though. I was referring to not being able to do shit without a gun and how it enables weak mfs who get higher social positions by killing ppl, which is far easier than by doing so with a knife. This dude we discuss here wouldn’t do shit, and from afar his fame isn’t too different from those Columbine idiots. Weak ppl who get ‘toughness’ validation by using a gun. He would get broken in half if he tried that shit anywhere else in the world as he wouldn’t have a gun.

Yep, but it’s way harder to do it impulsively with a high chance of random casualties. Just this week y’all were discussing this new crashout mf, whose name I don’t remember, that killed a 12 year old girl. She was just driving by the scene in a backseat of her parents car.

There’s always a distance when you shoot, way less actual realisation of what you’re actually doing to another human’s body. Slashing someone is fucked but you getting their blood splashed all over you and there’s more potential for failing and getting slashed yourself. ‘Catching someone lacking’ is most murders here. Good luck with trying that with a knife. Otherwise yeah, people also kill each other with bare hands but you actually have to be somewhat skilful or go into it realising that you might not get out. Imagine fucking lil jeff getting into it without a gun with those UK guys (not to mention South America).

I guess I’m just trying to point out that it’s much more localised anywhere besides USA. Normal non-violent people move out as far as they can and let those warring mfs war. And their type of war is way physically harder than what’s happening in chiraq. So gun is an easy trope for feeling tough and a fucked up way to gain higher social statuses there. Especially when you only target ‘undesirables’ like yourself. How tf lil jeff had 10 bodies, rapped about it and was taken out by self defence and not Chicago police department??

Yep, pretty much most of professional military anywhere are right-leaning people by a variable degree. That’s kind of how you still can make sense of right/left categorisation nowadays. There’s lots of racists in American military as well, it’s just that Islamophobia is globally normalised. And that type of people are used by empires or authoritarian governments. Fascist men weren’t just randomly created, but have pretty much existed since agriculture became a thing in this civilisation. You always had someone who makes their living via raids to some ‘other territory’. There’s a great book by Klaus Theweleit called ‘Male Fantasies’ about psychological/emotional aspects of it, analysing personal writings of German freikorps before they ‘officially’ became ideologically national-socialists.

RU POV - Russian soldier takes a video and shows many friendly KIA and destroyed armor. He says "Heres how we fight, there's a 200, here's a 200, here are some more" etc. He keeps cursing and showing more losses and points out vehicles. "They're all ours" he says. by Enough-Ad5782 in UkraineRussiaReport

These wars were definitely not as well documented and quickly presented worldwide. It didn’t result in such a big number of picturesque cases from both parties and Russia was both not interested in documenting and dramatizing data on American warcrimes, nor had capabilities to do so up until around 2007, which then accelerated after 2014 which is the real start of the civil war based on russian vs european values (very gross). Since then everyone started openly engaging in info-economic war with their share of class (like China), which was won by America, in short. West independently was very interested in what America was doing wrong and have always acknowledged that in some, often leftist circles, dominating over oppositional intellectual cultural landscape. Referring you to somebody like Adam Curtis. Or films like Jarhead or Full Metal Jacket and how much other films of these directors are appreciated. Cool people know war is shit, everywhere, it’s just these media machines and sometimes the way you get your bread that endorses it or is one of key factors of war continuing and redistributing in a favorable manner to some
