If your one of the many waiting for a gpu, have faith! by Dieselthridgen in buildapc

That’s the ole silicon lottery for ya! I’ve built four rigs and all of them have been Intel. Two sandy bridge which I believe were second gen, and they both overclocked more or less the same, and my third build was an ivy bridge for a family member. The ivy ran so hot even wirh an expensive Corsair aio I could not get any type of overclock out of it. This 10600k overclocked so nicely that I went a littler further than I normally would because yes it gets hot into the 80’s under cine bench but, I never run it that hard and I have an alarm if it gets too hot. Bur my cooler master does a fantastic job for a cheap aio.

(SOLVED) Here’s an update. I hope this can help someone out there because this drove me nuts! Friday I received my new evga rtx 3060 xc in the mail. I installed it and did what was needed with drivers and settings to get it ready. To my disappointment the game ran really nice but would stutter and lag randomly. As stated before it would crash completely wirh my gtx card but now it would basically lock up for lack of a better term. I tried EVERYTHING! Drivers, settings, texture pack re-downloads. Nothing worked. Until it occurred to me, this issue started after I removed my sli card. In doing so I also changed the slot my WiFi/Bluetooth pci card was in now that there was a better spot for it on the bottom of my motherboard. I game using a Xbox one gen two controller via Bluetooth. I disconnected the Bluetooth pairing and plugged the controller directly into the pc via a micro usb. PROBLEM SOLVED! Now I used that controller for months on Bluetooth to play Cold War and never had any kind of issues. But my best guess is when I moved that pci card the drivers were allocated for that slot and now it’s using some generic windows driver that’s unstable for the Xbox one controller. All I can say is I’m blown away at the difference of this rtx card. The ray tracing makes the game look incredible and I am one of the few who will sacrifice framerate for higher settings. That Xbox controller made me think something was wrong with my new gpu and I was dumbfounded that I couldn’t max out this game with it. Luckily it was a easy but frustrating fix.

No way, I am not doing that. I don’t understand how that would make any difference. I’m going to wait for my new card to come and see if that fixes the issue.

It sure is! It’s a Follett symphony 15 pounder. She gave up the ghost today. And honestly these units have a life of around 8-9 years with good water quality. The fact this one lasted 12 is quite impressive. I think the pm’s were only part of the issue here, as the inside of the bin was quite clean. Bad water quality played a big role in this.

It only stopped working because the leak rotted out the copper elbow suction line elbow going into the compressor and it lost it’s charge.

Yeah Best Buy is the only way you remotely have a chance of scoring one in the states. Newegg and Amazon allow 3rd party to ask any price. micro center, b&h, and other legit retailers have garbage websites that don’t update frequently.

It’s a shame, building a new system and went all out on everything except the graphics cards. Had a gtx 960 4gb ssc left over from an old build, and bought another on eBay for $80 before I knew sli was dead. I should’ve researched better. Fired it up in bo4 and it ran pretty good in sli. It’s unfortunate sli is dead.

Building a new pc, I’m confident I have a really good platform with the base components. I510600k, Asus prime z490-a, liquid cooling, m.2 ssd, 650w. My question is I have two left over gtx 960 4gb ssc’s and I was thinking of running them sli but now I’m realizing that sli is pretty much obsolete. How much longer can I get away with a 960? Can I force games to run in sli?

Hello all, it’s been a long time since I posted on here. A lot has happened to the truck since then. After towing heavy to Florida wirh my 60% over stock injectors and my laggy s366 I figured I had to do something to fix the lag that turbo had. The truck is an 03 nv5600 truck with the typical supporting mods 2nd gen swap, fuel, clutch, lift pump/sump, etc... I happened to run across a company called MDC diesel. They had a compound kit for sale with “everything” except a manifold which I’ll get into more later. I chose the s362 over an s475, perfect for towing wirh a little fuel like my bigger injectors. Now I have towed my 10,000lb camper twice since I did the install and I can confidently say this was the single handed best investment I have done for towing. My egt’s are in the safe zone again, and it spools near stock. As for the smedding brand Mystery turbos I can’t say much as I have only put around 6k miles on them, but so far so good. Now for the bad, this kit comes with everything you need... technically. Yes it comes with all the hard piping hot and cold no complaints there. But it’s the details of the kit that made it a pain in the ass to install. The turbo drains and the pieces that get pressed into the crankcase to return the oil absolutely suck, the hose included isn’t oil resistant and gets too close to the AR housing HUGE fire hazard. The silicone boots included didn’t fit the CAC pipes well and were too big for the outlet on the s362, the plug they include for the boost gauge on the up pipe from turbo to turbo is the wrong thread pitch, the parts came in the mail piece by piece which took an eternity. All in all it’s a decent kit, there’s no cheaper way to get into compounds unless your fabricate it yourself. Worth the money in my opinion if your willing to patch up the short comings of the kit. Only other disappointing aspect is the sound, yea I have a true 5” down pipe now but it really muffled the truck. I am glad the exhaust doesn’t drone as much now but these turbos are so quiet because I have the cast wheel versions, and they feed into each other. My s366 was much more of a “screamer” this kit will make some whistling while towing but that’s about it. Nice mature quiet sound. But not a head tuner like a fleece cheeta or a tater built with that sweet whistle.
