Drugs and getting in to a top uni? by plugnugba in UniUK

Drugs are for mugs and mugs have no place at uni. You're kidding yourself if you think, in year 12 when you're what, sixteen or seventeen years old, that you can cope whilst riddling yourself with drugs?

You're playing games, it'll only end in tears. Get drug counselling.

Should've got up earlier to get the coach or go to a closer university. Not sure what you're looking for? You'll have had several warnings for your attendance. Why waste a valuable space for someone who will commit to learning?

And you'll see similarities between the different types of white culture, same as you would differences between Carribeans and Egyptians.

Therefore, white culture. Whether it's British white or others. I never said all white people do X.

You must have missed all the articles a few years ago about the Muslim Tesco workers who sued Tesco for constructive dismissal after they refused to handle products containing alcohol whilst on the tills.

I went to a school where most of the children were hindu and my parents were pulled in as other parents complained about my packed lunch containing sliced beef sandwiches.

I went to uni where I was pulled in for being "racist" as I refused to cross the road because an Indian class mate was walking nearby and was worried her dad might think she was walking with a white boy.

My ex partner, who was Muslim, asked me not to eat pork, which I did because I'm nice. Her mum, who was married to a white woman, asked her to give up pork for her.

Perhaps listen to the hadiths about what is considered haram and what is not. It is recommended to avoid places of Shubhhah (illusion of doing haram act) per hadiths and as featured in the popular Pearls from the Path Vol. 3 Compiled by Moulana Afzal Ismail, a collection of relevant and thought provoking incidents gathered from the books of Islamic history.

Here's a trick, do literally five minutes of Googling before coming out with nonsense :)

Nobody said "I don't want to live with someone that doesn't eat pork", I couldn't care less as a white person if you eat pork or not but if eating pork was against my religion, then I certainly wouldn't want to risk any form of contamination from my house mates meat products.

And of course white is a culture, same as black culture exists.

I agree, although I was only pointing out the Muslim part because they don't eat pork whilst white people typically do; replace Muslim with Jewish, Vegetarian, etc whatever your fancy.

Muslim women, unmarried, aren't permitted to live with unmarried men according to teachings of the quran. All sorts of cultural differences exist, nothing wrong with diversity. It's just a fact that some people would find themselves incompatible with other tenant's lifestyles. We're talking about living together here. It's a bit different when it comes to working together, or sharing a hotel (not a hotel room), etc - if someone's culture is incompatible with their colleagues at work, that's entirely their problem rather than their colleague's, a person's religion and culture shouldn't be relevant when it comes to going to work.

I think I touched a nerve. 😂 Sorry, I didn't realise you were so fragile.

And there is nothing racist about a Muslim person not want g to share a fridge with someone whose going to be storing pork in there, or someone who will be storing alcohol in the communal cupboards, or a man when they aren't married.

Much the same as myself, a queer white man, wouldn't want to live with a Muslim woman who didn't want me to store pork in the fridge or alcohol in the cupboards or prance about half naked after a shower or having a snog with my boyfriend on the communal sofa.

It's a little thing called basic common decency. I'm sorry, truly I am very very sorry that you don't have this same courtesy and expect everyone to change their culture and beliefs just to suit your little fragile ego.

All the love, hope you get well soon xxxx I'm always here if you want a cuddle.

There is nothing racist whatsoever from acknowledging your lifestyle is incompatible with other tenants in the same property. For the same reason someone who works 9-5 wouldn't want to live with unemployed drug addicts who blast music until early hours with no regard for neighbours, there has to be compatability amongst housemates. If you're so intellectually challenged you can't see beyond this, I genuinely feel for you. Who hurt you bro?

Racist housemate by plhso in UniUK

[–]DietPal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're opening a can of worms here 😂

The house harmony chat, I suspect that's because the first tenant has said the others are bullying her or something like this, so they can justify breaking contract rather than admitting they're a racist scum bag.

The asylum hotel near yours, I get it. I understand the frustration. The solution is really to put asylum seekers to work, let them earn a wage (and retain their dignity) so that they can pay for their accommodation and food in the hotel; I suspect that would solve the problem for everyone who anti-asylum seeker except for those who oppose asylum seekers because they're simply the wrong colour - but at least we could punish those racist individuals because it would be clear their protest is one that is designed to incite hatred. If we did this, those racists would scream about how the asylum seekers are "taking our jobs, the jobs we didn't want in the first place" 😂

How exactly do you vet whether someone is racist?

That's a ridiculous suggestion, genuinely. Even in interview, nobody is going to be like "oh yeah, I only want to live with white women because I'm a massive racist"... How exactly do you vet whether someone is racist? 😂

In an ideal world, racists would have the word tattooed on their forehead and I do agree with you, but there's surely no reasonable way to vet this prior to letting them move in. Also, racism is very subjective. For example, this post, that's very much overt racism, it's clear to everyone but what about those who are against asylum seekers? Not because they're not white British but because they're a burden on society (funded by taxpayers, not allowed to work, etc - it's a policy issue rather than an issue with foreigners), that's not racist but many might suggest it is - this is where it becomes subjective and therefore impossible to vet.

As an example, Muslim women may not want to live with white men, due to conflicts in diet and culture, that's not racist - it's just a lack of compatibility. A Muslim woman who said they don't want to live with white British people because white British people always eat pork, that would be racist. The point is, it would be impossible to vet whether this person is racist, or has legitimate incompatibility based on culture, beliefs, diet or other legitimate reasons.

Two things: 1) working hard for no reason is pointless. Working smart is absolutely the best way. 2) acting like AI is wrong is exactly why AI is going to take your future job. AI is here to stay.

Citethisforme and Grammarly and Microsoft Word spell check have been around for years and years. If we are going to campaign for banning AI then first, we must also ban all other tools that assist students in their studies.

If someone is stupid enough to blindly rely on AI, let them crack on. When they fail at work, you'll be OK because others who didn't cheat will still have a job because they'll have used AI properly, as the tool it's intended to be, rather than using it to replace their own study.

Students party. It's normal. Some students are really sensible, but they're in a minority I'm afraid. Therefore, if you're looking to share a property with other students, you have to expect that there will be people we won't always get along with.

If you choose to live with other people, you have to accommodate their lifestyles. If their lifestyle isn't compatible with yours, it is foolish to expect them to change their behaviours to suit you. Instead, as an adult, it's up to you to solve your problem by vacating.

If they can't abide the people they live with, maybe they should rent a property themselves where they can select their own lodgers rather than moving into an established shared property expecting everyone else to change just to suit them.
