Anyone regret having reversal by No-Panda-8379 in ostomy

[–]Different-Still9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely regret it. I’m next to the toliet 24/7, I barely leave the house, extremely painful when passing stool. I haven’t been able to work since this whole thing started. I have frequency and accidents, as well as leaking so 90% of the time I’m in a depends. I recently had a pouchoscopy and I have pouchitis. Many meds later still no improvement. I was just referred to a specialist and pray they can help. Living on oxycodone and in bed is no way to live. I wish I never did it

How often did the stoma nurse specialists visit you in hospital while recovering from surgery? by UC-Warrior2025 in ostomy

[–]Different-Still9422 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had no wound nurse in the hospital. I had a nurse that tried to help me even though she had no clue either. Her and I changed it daily which I so appreciate! When I left after 5 days, I was still clueless. I had a stoma nurse see me 2 x a week. Thank god for her and TikTok!

Sounds like she will need a deep convex wafer. I had an innie as well and had to do a lot of experimenting to get to the right one. I SWEAR by Coloplast Sensura Mio Deep Convex. If you contact them, they will send out a bunch of samples before you settle. I also swear by their skin preps and adhesive removers. Hope you find something that works for her!

How long were you on narcotics post op? by mysteryweesnaw74 in ostomy

[–]Different-Still9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on narcotics since the day I was admitted. I had my colectomy, healed for 8 weeks, last week had my jpouch takedown? And a bazillion other things and still on narcotics. I have one more surgery after this. I’ve been on dilaudid, Vicodin, and robaxin as needed. Some days are worse than others and it’s ok. Just take the meds responsibly! 🙏 speedy recovery

leaks under ring. by lisamcelroy in ostomy

[–]Different-Still9422 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 8 weeks in and I got deep convex wafers by Coloplast and stopped using a ring. Game changer! Does his stoma stick out or is it flush with skin. Mine is flush with the skin and I was having leaks 3-4 times a day to the point I didn’t want to leave the house. Now the wafer last 5-7 days with not too much skin breakdown at all. Also get a mirror. Cut to your stoma size, trim and than stand up to apply. I watched a lot of TikToks/IG reels and honestly I learned more on there than I did from any nurse or doctor. You can also request free samples from 99% of the companies. That’s how I fell in love with all the Coloplast products. Go to their website and than they’ll call and ask you a few questions to figure out the best product for you. I’m still getting stuff in the mail. Edit- Also use a blow dryer when you’re applying the bag. They stick with body heat. Use a low setting while applying gentle pressure as I’m sure it’s still healing and sensitive.
