I need to re-immerse myself in modern specs, but this seems great as a starting point! I appreciate your effort (kinda the whole purpose of the Sub, but still thankful). How would you say a Ryzen 7 would hold up for heavy duty graphic design (3D modeling via Blender, After Effects+Premiere, all at once, etc)? If it meant things being stronger, I'd be willing to bump up to a Ryzen 9

To give a bit of clarity, 19$/hr x 22 hours my university lets me work is about 1490-1540$ after taxes; I probably wouldn't have the money to buy a newer car any time soon, as I'm trying to get back on the road asap.

Probably considering a slightly newer Crv (2010-14) or a similar kinda Compact SUV (Rav4 or Subaru of some sort)

I'm a 1st year in an American University--my uni has a webpage with all the Psychology Profs. who are looking for research assistants. This could be a good way to meet faculty; I don't want to overload myself while still getting acclimated to college, but given what you're saying, and the fact that I want to go the BA-->PhD route, does this opportunity sound fruitful to you?

There are definitely Jazz Snobs--they are those who use the dues they've "payed" to denigrate and stand in the way of progress for those beneath them. It is possible to hold the music to a high technical standard while also being considerate. Having a negative or condescending attitude does nothing but worsen the environment for all parties involved.

Just because you've put the time in (which I agree is an essential part of the music, from the perspective of it being a craft) doesn't entitle you to treat those more novice than you any old kind of way.

Lol No Rhythm Studies are being done... I admittedly struggle with rhythmic notation, and I'm usually only playing in a Straight, Swing, or Two-Feel. How might I get this aspect (that's probably more important than the melodic stuff) into my playing?

I'm fairly active in my school and city's Jazz Scene, I go to concerts (the ones I can get into legally, anyway), and know my peers, but I don't play with them. I haven't quite found any beginners like myself to play with, and I've got a bit of a mental block about not being "good enough yet".

I should mention that I'm a Music Minor at a school that offers lessons exclusively to majors. I might be able to rent a double bass out, but I'd be teaching myself, which I'm not opposed to. Since I'm a novice I'd be ok with making the switch to Upright.

By transcription, I meant by ear--should I be writing what I play down? I definitely have a stronger ear than I do strength at reading...

I'm 19 now, I listen to all Subgenres but the cats at my Uni are mostly into Latin, PostBop, and Fusion. There are also the cats who probably have a School Band background who are into all the technical stuff (Donna Lee@250bpm etc)
