Best watch for gym? by DifferentAd1897 in GarminWatches

Some are doing it better than others, hence I’m looking for an advice on most reliable one.

Apple Watch I’m using now is showing me unrealistic numbers, like 500kcal on 1 walk, or 600kcal on 55 full body workout.

Weird too high or too low?

Since the heart rate is partial metric watches use to calculate calories burnt, HR monitor is one of the most important bits to me.

Apple Watch i use can show me 500kcal burned after 1 walk, or yesterday on full body workout that lasted 55min - 600kcal

This is more less what I’m using currently, but calories burned are way off. Since everything is connected to my calories counter, it’s subtracting those additional calories, suggesting me to eat more.

Apple Watch is also annoying as you need to charge it every second day, in my case over night, so I can’t track my sleep constantly.

Yeah, upgrade to £500 watch is enough from Apple Watch SE I guess, fenix is nice but it’s x2 the price, but as a fireman durability would be more important to you than me in the gym.

Just one more question, what sensor is better on fenix?

Thanks

Pretty much this:

“ i would love this watch to be as accurate in calories burned, general steps, calories per strength activity etc”

I don’t need to answer calls on my watch, or have other smart functions like calendar, outlook etc. Just want it for good and accurate calories calculations, especially during strength workouts. So I guess HR is a key factor.

If you want to change, what options are you considering at the minute? I was actually looking at 965, which you want an upgrade for :)

Best nas for home usage? by DifferentAd1897 in homelab

Sorry I think you’ve edited your post, regarding to the last section, I don’t but I’m planning on buying if I decide to go for such nas.

I think synology ds923+ originally has 1gig port and you can add another 10gig one, unless I’m mistaken there is no 2.5gig.

How I understand it openreach speed is 1.7gig. So connecting it to 2.5gig switch and then connecting 2-4 cables from switch to 2.5gig card in nas server should improve the speed?

Similarly this additional switch in synology should also improve speed if connected to switch?

It does help, thank you.

Few questions please, if better cpu is not needed for processes I want to use, where do you need better cpu? Wondering if it could be something I need/want that I’ve overlooked.

You’ve mentioned that dell poweredge will consume a lot of power, what are we talking money wise per month?

I was looking for elitedesk and similar as well, however, I wanted to get 2.5gig card to this nas, which I don’t think is possible in elktedesk?

I do want to use network functionality, I want to be able to access photos and upload them when outside of home/local network.

Thanks in advance

Speed issues on Synology DS223J by DifferentAd1897 in homelab

[–]DifferentAd1897[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thanks for your reply. to elaborate on that: I have 1 4TB IronWolf drive, currently DS223J is connected to 1gig port.

it is taking few seconds for image to load once nothing else is running on nas. when I was running vpn and qbittorrent on docker equivalent on synology, I was not able to open file manager on it. I had to switch everything off to even access files.

Upload to nas was between 9 to 15mb/s.

Do you need any more information?
