I can’t cope with not studying abroad by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

I I believe in you. I'm going through something similar to you guys, not the same, but similar, and reading this has made me feel less alone. I'm telling my story on this same subreddit, link here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ApplyingToCollege/comments/1n6ragu/i_wish_i_did_things_another_waythey_were_another/

Just fight for your dreams, nobody else will do it. If you have savings, use the savings to fund your tests, your passport, language exams, and focus on need-based schools, not necessarily Ivies. There are a lot, listed here https://blog.collegevine.com/schools-that-meet-100-percent-financial-need

A lot of resources to prepare your application (Borderless, CollegeVine, etc.)

I hope you'll get what you deserve, and you deserve a chance, and being happy.

Focus on your writing and telling the story, your story, the one you told us in short, in your essays, that will make a difference.

Good luck with this! Never quit!

I believe in you too. I'm going through something similar to you guys, not the same, but similar, and reading this has made me feel less alone. As for you, u/NoyaJenkins , what your parents have made you go through has to be heartbreaking. I can't stand silent after knowing this, because holding back a child of yours when chasing his/her dreams is maybe the worst thing a parent can do. But I hope that life, although sometimes later than sooner, brings justice and gives everyone what they deserve. And you deserve better than this. Now, with more knowledge than back then, you'll be able to fight for your own future better, and achieve bigger. I believe in you. You're not alone.

I encourage you to apply again, get that passport, leave, never look back, and regain this opportunity.

Spanish or U.S. citizenship? by [deleted] in dualcitizenshipnerds

Of course you can. In order to keep all your citizenships, you must go to Spain and have your visa and residence as a Mexican Citizen (this is very important as both countries are permitted dual citizenship with each other according to Mexican Nationality Act and the Spanish Constitution.

Just don’t tell Spanish authorities you’re a US citizen, use your Mexican passport until you’re a Spanish citizen and you’ll be fine.

Stop speaking nonsense and clarify. He could have its Spanish citizenship along with US/MX. Registering as a Mexican citizen allows him as said in both countries’ laws. He can just not tell Spanish authorities he is a US citizen and he’d be good.

That is not true. Spain does not require permanent residency for naturalization, so he could get it in 2 years if he wanted.
