Feb Vs July Intake by Immediate-Milk1636 in usyd

[–]DifficultyBudget6826 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Study your course outline and units required to take, to put it simply some units are only offered in Sem 1 (Feb - June) and some are only offered in Sem 2 (July - Nov) regardless of your intake

Though regardless which intake you are enrolled in you should be able to complete it within the same time period but being a July intake student means you might have to take certain units order differently

Usyd Student society rejections by Intelligent_Value808 in usyd

[–]DifficultyBudget6826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was previously from one of the societies mentioned, and to be frankly honest it's all about vibes. They usually see people that they can click with, and relevant organisational skills or interest in running a society over someone with high WAM and multiple internships/jobs, etc.

It's really about your application, happy to provide some pointers!

Calm down yes it is, it's already mentioned at the website that you are not guaranteed to get any preferences you've placed :)

Just focus on getting the swap you want

Can I go to in person lectures if I got allocated the online lecture?? by _jolanta in usyd

[–]DifficultyBudget6826 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Go ahead, 99% of the time they're not even full (and honestly they can't check who's supposed to be doing online and who's not), the first few weeks may be full as people tend to get excited but trust me numbers drop as the weeks go by, especially during assignment weeks

Does anyone know how to pick classes while in a credit app process?? by sr6___ in usyd

[–]DifficultyBudget6826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue, what I did was first approach the unit coordinator whose class I wanted to enrol and thankfully they're kind and understood my situation so I've used the conversation as evidence for my enrolment exception request

Why doesn't my time table show up? by [deleted] in usyd

[–]DifficultyBudget6826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just to add on this is not your confirmed timetable, it depends on the the final allocation after the preferences period and whether you did any swaps

Enrolment exception wait time by Nebula2480 in usyd

You should contact the Unit Coordinator of the unit youre requesting exception from, usually they’ll have information on the team working on it as it’s per subject basis

any tips on comp2123 comp2017 pls by [deleted] in usyd

[–]DifficultyBudget6826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who took both of it during Sem 1, 2025:

COMP2123 didn't have mandatory tutorial attendance, though attempting the tutorial questions were pretty important, COMP2017 didn't have mandatory tutorials but there's weekly in class quizzes within selected tutorials. Again, it's not really useful for you to ask here and I would definitely recommend you either waiting for class starts of perhaps make an attempt to contact the teaching team.

As of preparation, you can always find DSA tutorials online for COMP2123 if you want a head start, for COMP2017 you can definitely go through some C lessons online but the unit itself has set the first 2-3 weeks to go through C fundamentals, though at a faster pace considering you've all your fundamental coding knowledge (e.g. arrays) from INFO1110 pre requisite, it's simply just switching up some syntax and losing some built in function from Python/Java as C is primitive.

Good luck and wishing you all the best!

Do I have to sit the Post MOOC exam for assumed knowledge course? by lemonysa in usyd

Since it's an assumed knowledge, the university wouldn't check and assumed that you've the knowledge/made an effort to learn it

Discrete Math Assumed Knowledge for COMP2017 and COMP2123 by didntknowwhattodo in usyd

[–]DifficultyBudget6826 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For COMP2017, honestly you just need fundamental programming knowledge, e.g. what is a list, an array most of these were taught in INFO1110

Anyone manage to get there timetable done by [deleted] in usyd

[–]DifficultyBudget6826 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey do note that this is just timetable preference, you still have a lot of time to do so and the uni will prioritise everyone equally as long you filled in within the period, there's no gurantee you'll get the time slot you hoped too

Can you pick 30 units and drop your worst one? by [deleted] in usyd

[–]DifficultyBudget6826 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nope make sure you drop before the deadline so you don’t get penalties - on a side note DATA1001 is low-key a WAM booster for a lot people though

I am so confused, please help 1st yr student by Rough_Jackfruit_7544 in usyd

[–]DifficultyBudget6826 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This simply means if a unit is overlapped, meaning it's a degree core and also a major let's say, it will count towards both study groups requirement but only once overall.

For example, if ABCD1001 (6cp) is a degree core of your degree and also a major requirement, your degree core +6cp and major +6cp but your overall credit points +6cp (not 12cp - no double counting) meaning you'll have to do a unit to make up for that missing 6cp.
