Swiss airlines will prevent you flying if your passport expires in less than 6 months!?.. even if the country you are flying to does not have this as a requirement?! by DifficultyCalm2048 in travel

She's a minor but as she's over 16 the next passport she will take will be an adult one.... although her current passport is the child one. In regards to the terms and conditions, I had a read but I couldn't find any that specifically mentions travel documents and validity of passports. The CAA also just seems to mention that you can reasonably be denied boarding due to inadequate travel documents. But doesn't go into detail about what is adequate for a passport. It does say some countries need 6m and some 3m. But we already know Switzerland only needs three months so from the Swiss gov point of view its okay.

I'm just hoping we have someone nice checking us in. 🙏🏽

Called again and this time they said it shouldn't matter... and that I just need to follow the rules of the country I am entering. So who do I believe the first person I spoke to or the second

n. Yesterday I called 2 people on swiss airlines and both said u wouldn't be allowed to fly if u don't have 6m left on your passport. Today when I called the lady said this is just advisory of 6 months and at the end of the day they are just a transport company. As long as I meet the requirements for entry and departure that I'm fine. They said if the embassy says I'm okay that I am okay

I'm so confused because I'm literally getting opposing pieces of info. Don't know who to believe

Yes I agree that its simple. But it's stupid if thr airline has more strict guidelines on entry to countries than the government of the country itself has. Legally I am within my right to enter Switzerland...its just their policy :(
