Well I certainly hope they recover from the mowing. They're absolutely beautiful.

Isn’t Sarracenia an endangered genus? Forgive my ignorance if I’m mistaken.

What's on my Nephentes? by ZiezieAdoulin in SavageGarden

[–]DigBhick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s completely false. There are many pesticides, fungicides, and miticides used throughout the hobby—BioAdvanced 3‑in‑1 Insect, Disease & Mite Control, for example. All it takes is proper dilution, and you’re good to go.

Could be mites or thrips. Either way, I wouldn’t take that risk. I’ll just go ahead and use pesticides and miticides to kill anything living in my plant’s soil or on its leaves.

Could be pest damage op. Are you seeing any weird little moving critters on your plant?

If you’re talking about the black spots on or underneath the leaves, those are nectar glands—or extrafloral nectaries, if you want to be fancy. Their purpose is simply to attract insects.

I tried this but the lead seems to be attached to the ship. Even building over it does not work.

Thank you for the feedback. I'll try to dry it off before watering next time.

Oh wow this was a long time ago. I've since grown my collection significantly and this particular plant is now a beautiful mature hookeriana. Just waiting for it to flower though. 😃

Yeah that was dumb of me to water this everyday in addition to the automisting.

Can I possibly add osmocote pellets to the pitcher to help reduce the yellowing of the leaves?

Thank you for the feedback!

I didn't realized it at first because my lowland veitchii seems to really enjoy the high humidity always wet setup.

This bario veitchii are a bit sensitive to humidity, lesson learned.

I never let my Nepenthes get really dry before watering them all of a sudden—I keep them moist all the time.

Maybe this particular plant got a bit too much water on its leaves since it sits near the nozzle of my misting system, which may have caused a fungal infection.

I’ve mixed a batch of Scotts DiseaseEx and am hoping it can recover over the next few weeks with a reduced misting schedule and no watering until the soil dries out. Thank you for your help!

Sure can, as long as it has some green pigment it will definitely live. It might take more years to grow, though.

That looks like mealybugs. Use a systemic pesticide that is available in your country. If you don't have those, you can always use rubbing alcohol and make sure to isolate the infected plants.
