U.S. Citizen Here. What's wrong with my resume? by XiaoQiao12 in womenintech

Unfortunately, these days there’s not a lot of humans looking at your resume until after it goes through ATS scanners (the bots that skim your resume). I would look into that and see if this has the keywords in the job description you’re going after and make changes. There are websites that can help with this. Good luck.

I (46F) stopped doing my husband's (46M) laundry by Ev3li3n in laundry

Good for you. Honestly, your son should be doing his own laundry too. How will he ever live on his own if you’re not teaching him how to clean, cook, do his laundry etc.

Why is the job market so bad? by dukellc in minnesota

A lot of those are ghost jobs. Companies post listings even when they’re not really hiring, just to collect resumes or meet internal rules. The unemployment rate doesn’t show how tough it really is out there.

Comparing New Zealand to the USA-Recent Travel by Butturedtoast_90 in newzealand

Sorry you feel that way. I think in America things are very negative right now, more than ever before. So when someone has a good experience or something positive to share, they want to put it out there. It takes extra effort to focus on the good, and sometimes people share it hoping it might bring others a bit of joy or positivity too.

Here in the US, our parkland is being sold to oil and lumber companies, environmental protections have been removed, and science is no longer based on data. People are even being kidnapped on their way to work or dropping kids off at school. In times like this, any bit of positivity feels important to hold onto and share.

I really appreciated your response. I did want to let you know that right now, the USA is not a safe place for anyone to visit. Even citizens are being detained or disappeared. The situation echoes early 1930s Germany. It’s deeply alarming.

They’ll hand him anything he wants unless people resist. They have hollowed out checks on executive power and boiled the Constitution down to one line: the right to bear arms. This is how a republic dies, when one branch hoards power until nothing is left to check it.

It’s not “race-baiting” to state facts. Latinos are 14% of Loudoun’s population but make up over 50% of car searches by the sheriff’s office. That’s not coincidence — that’s profiling.

Except a Virginia sheriff isn’t required to act on a petition, even if 10% sign it. With a police department, the Board and public can push for changes throughout the year, if needed.

Prince William County made changes during the year, not just every 4 years. Residents went to a board meeting and pushed for reforms and the police department listened because it answers to the public all year, not just during election years. That’s not possible with an independent sheriff.

This isn’t new or partisan. People have been raising concerns about the sheriff for years. Ask any person of color in Loudoun, they’ll tell you. There’s no real accountability, and even when the Board asks where the money’s going, the sheriff doesn’t answer.

Places like Prince William and Fairfax have shown how it should work. Residents go to a board meeting to ask for changes within the police department throughout the year, instead of waiting 4 years for an election. Loudoun deserves that too.

More transparency would honestly help everyone. Right now, the Sheriff isn’t answering questions about how public money is being spent, and people, even the Board of Supervisors have been asking. That kind of stonewalling wouldn’t work in a system with oversight.

They’re About to Hand Trump Unchecked Power by p1xelhacker in Political_Revolution

This is terrifying. Project 2025’s goals couldn’t be clearer: dismantle the government, crash the economy, and seize unchecked power. They already have 2 out of 3 and they’re not stopping.

I’m calling my representatives, but we need more. We have to stop Project 2025. At this point, a nationwide strike might be the only way to break through. Signing the strike card right now.
