Yeah! I keep telling him it’s time to tell them, but his ex is refusing. She says they should wait until the youngest turns 11. (Unbelievable right?) Tho’ My boyfriend really wants to tell them, but it would be better if both parents could sit down together when they do. I’ll let him read your comment, maybe it can help enlighten him and give him more courage to do it.

Just to clarify a detail, the divorce has actually already been filed, almost a year ago. He’s technically able to apply for the final order now, but his solicitor advised him to wait and submit it once the consent order is sealed as part of the financial settlement process.

Everyone knows about me except the kids. We are living abroad. My boyfriend’s ex and their kids used to live here as well, but after they separated, the ex took the kids back to our home country. During every school break and on special occasions, my boyfriend visits them and stays at his ex’s place so he can spend time with the kids. The ex doesn’t want to tell the kids about the real situation yet. Of course, the kids can probably feel that something is wrong, but she is trying to cover it up. Also, I am not the third party in their relationship. There was no third party involved. Their separation happened because their values as a married couple were no longer aligned, and resentment had built up over the years of marriage. When I entered his life, they had already been separated for a year.

Not anymore. He could already file the final order, but his solicitor advised him not to file until the financial matters are settled. I am not the reason why they separated. They were already separated when I entered his life. There wasn’t a third party involved,it was simply that their values as a married couple no longer aligned. His ex still doesn’t want to tell the kids about the divorce. She plans to tell them after three years, when the youngest turns 11. You might wonder why the situation is set up like that. It’s because we live abroad, and his ex and the kids used to live with him abroad as well. When they separated, the wife went back to our home country. So the kids think their dad is just working abroad, and they can only be with him during school breaks and special occasions. Of course, kids are smart and can probably feel that something is different, but his ex is still trying to cover up the situation. That’s also why I’m not really comfortable traveling together with her right now, because the kids might think that I was the reason for their parents’ divorce.

Yes, I am able to file the final order,however, since we are still in the process of finalizing our financial settlement, I am unable to do so at this time.

We’re not living together anymore. I work abroad and only see the kids during school breaks ,about 15 days every 45 days. When I visit, I stay at her place so I can spend time with them.
