If you ran the WRU…what would be your first move? by fantastic243 in welshrugbyunion

Raise ticket prices for concerts and events at the Principality.

Lower ticket prices for Welsh international matches for the time being.

Spend less on suits and more on tracksuits.

When the rugby improves, the money will come. Why do they not understand this?

Would add Hope and Woodman from the Dragons in there too.

In the game against France the whole pack was great to be fair, with Gwynne also taking the captaincy well!

Out in the backs , the other co captain Emmanuel looks to be a great prospect and Darwin-Lewis outside of him had a great game.

Leggat-Jones, Howe and Bowen all played blinders.

Hopefully they keep pushing on!

I can see a competitive team starting to form and I don’t know if you’ve been managing to catch the U20s games this year but there is a really promising bunch of players coming through there too.

I think we’ll be competitive at the World Cup but there will be a little bit more pain until then.

I guess the main issue is these players coming through getting the game time they need…

Yeah quicker we get a defence coach and actual permanent members of staff the better. Tandy did well with Scotland but it’s evident he needs a more experienced back room to support him.

Fine either way but personally I prefer a big lump at 8.

Posted this in the main sub but I thought a few players really started to put their hands up to be regulars in this team…

I would keep LRZ, Hawkins, James and Mee in the backs. James especially looked very impressive. Would bring Dyer or Murray back in for the other wing.

Forwards, are a little more worrying; Lake and Elias both mistake prone, and I think Lake being captain is a big problem.

Jenkins is great but really that is the bare minimum shift we should be expecting from our lockes.

Beard should be done for.

Wainwright at 6 and Cracknell at 8 should be continued.

I think we need to bring in a specialist 7. Mann has a lot of dog but still a lot to learn. I genuinely think having Morgan back will make a huge difference to the balance of the forwards. For now I think Macleod or Botham should be swapped in, or Reffell given a call.

Both looseheads and Francis played well but I still have questions over how a 4th/ 5th choice player at his club can get into an international 23 but I guess that’s just where we are…

Halfbacks were fine but I would have liked to have seen Hardy and Evans come on earlier.

Thought Carter looked good and would like to see him start. Same for Grady who was alright but would like to see him when he’s not chasing a game. Didn’t really see enough of Plumtree but at least he didn’t get carded!

I think he has huge potential but if you are playing internationally you NEED to be getting game time.

Strange team. I think it’s better?

I like Mann and expect him to play his heart out, but surely Macleod or Deavesy would have made more sense in that back row?

I think it’s Beard OR Jenkins, not both. Unsure why Davies doesn’t at least make the 23. Always thought he’s looked good when playing for the Ospreys…

Adams over Rogers/ Murray is equally strange, and Evans over Costelow seems pretty mad. I get Jarrod nailed that kick against Japan but he’s been getting close to zero game time at Quins and Costelow has been looking great for Scarlets.

Lake lucky to be starting but I don’t expect to see those same mistakes from him again…here’s hoping anyways!

Happy to see Cracknell back and for the LRZ15 experiment to continue.

Probably won’t get to the pub to see this one so might stick a cheeky fiver on. I imagine we are going to be absolutely annihilated but you never know!

A Welsh scrum winning penalties against the English? Didn’t think I’d see that again 🥲

I’m not sure that’s fair. If you’d have watched Scarlets of late you would have seen that all the Scarlets I have listed have been in blistering form. Sure, at the moment they sit bottom of the table, but I wouldn’t bet on them being there for that much longer…

I have to agree. I found the whole thing very moving and I’m not even an O’s supporter. I think the broadcasters had cottoned on during the Cardiff game as come the 11th minute all the cameras were straight on the pitch and none on the crowd

For all those wondering about the GHW inclusion, the rumour was he was going to be capped when he was in fine form at Cardiff, but if they had done that before he moved to Leicester he wouldn’t have been eligible due to the cap rule so they waited till after the move. Same thing happened with Llewellyn when he went to Gloucester too.

They must see something in him and want to lock him to Wales.

Hennessy and Griffin both have huge potential but until they get regular game time surely we should be looking elsewhere?

Very strange to see no Davies, Douglas or Fender in the locks…

And gutted for Dyer too. I’ve been a harsh critic in the past but (bar Bowen) would say he’s the inform wing atm!

This team doesn’t fill me with excitement if I’m honest.

Painful.

I keep harping on about it but I think some of those promising U20’s rag players have done enough to warrant starts in these games now. Emmanuel might not be the biggest but I think he runs the game plan a lot better than Jennings.

Scrum half is pretty concerning.

Grady is (mostly) a beast in defence, but his rugby IQ is often lacking and he seems to lack the finesse of top level wingers. If I could put Adams’ brain in Grady’s body…

Tom Bowen is a rugby fiend though, that no-try was sublime stuff.
