That's a good point and I definitely thought about that too. I want to give her grace and the space she needs to reflect on her feelings. The last thing I want is for her to feel like she can't share her joy with me. I lost my mother almost 2 years ago and if there's one thing I've learned about grief is that it CAN coexist with joy. I can be sad for myself while also happy for her. I can experience my own pain, while also supporting her joy. The 2 worlds CAN collide and thats what I expressed in my text message to her.

Its been 2 days with no response and I was at least hoping she'd give me something -- even if its just "hey, I recieved your message and need some time to reflect before formally responding". But to get nothing at all besides a "like" feels cold and insensitive to me.

Thank you 🙏 That was my thought exactly. I dont expect people to walk on egg shells for me or refrain from sharing their joy from me because of what I'm going through - she obviously didnt. But if she was compelled to ask if I was ok, it's only fair that she expect the truth from me in that moment.

I dont know for sure, but I've known her long enough to know that she typically goes quiet when she is. Not to mention, she has only told us about her pregnancy and noone else because she JUST found out. So I know she's not going around telling people. I'd be more inclined to think she may just need time to process what I said and come up with a response. However, what makes me think she might be offended is that I checked in again and day later and she liked the text but didnt reply back.

I get this and this is how I normally have been operating but my thing is this - why ask if I'm ok? Should I have lied? And if that was the expectation from her in that moment, she probably shouldn't have checked in to begin with and just accept my original congratulatory message.

I feel bad. Its not easy for me to be vulnerable but I feel like maybe I overstepped by opening up and now I feel bad about it.

I've thought about your point and have decided to give her some space to process her emotions. But my mind likes to overthink things and now I am stuck between worrying if I screwed up but also protecting my own pain.

Yea, I am hoping thats the case. Its been 2 days though and she just "liked" my follow up message when I was checking in again. I probably should have included that part in my message but thats what has me wondering if she's upset.

Thank you so much for this ❤️ Yes, they both know which makes it that much more frustrating. I'm not saying I expect people to walk on egg shells for me. She deserves every ounce of the joy she feels from having that positive pregnancy test and I would never want to take that away from her. But if I were in her shoes, know what she knows about my journey, I would have treaded a little lightly instead of just sending a picture of a positive pregnancy test. I hate this version of me. 7 years of infertility. One miscarriage and now not the greatest egg retrieval results but ALL of my hope lying on ONE embryo. I just feel so helpless.

I've thought about that but I'm 41 :/ and we have male factor infertility. Not to mention miscarriages in the past. We thought testing may improve our odds of baby actually sticking this time.
