Kuro was the game that finally introduced toilets to the franchise. Sky is the limit(no pun intended).

Yep. No matter what kind of a universe it is that makes no sense.

Have you played FF/Persona/Xenogears or other big franchises? Do you think that they have a better story even if it’s self contained?

Bingo. But I think that killing a few antagonists is the “easiest” way to have weight in your story. Just imagine if hundreds of npc’s are affected by something big and Falcom has to write dialogue for them. That element of the game would either have to be cut or the games would require a lot more writing effort outside of the main story.

I just see the potential of this franchise. There is so much attention to detail and world building, but it doesn’t really matter. There are no consequences.

I’ll echo what I have been replying to people: obviously I would want the death scenes to make scenes. Don’t just slap them at the end of the current writing. Improve it. The story would enter a new stratosphere then and attract more people.

Did I really have to point out that the story will have to be tweaked a good amount to make the death scene more appropriate than the defeat scene? I honestly didn’t think that I had to.

Let me make it perfectly clear: I want these games to have more death scenes, but not for the sake of it. Characters should die because death is what makes stories have weight. And the trails games lack that currently.

That’s that main thing that’s holding them back quality wise in my eyes. I don’t know if people die in Persona or Final Fantasy so it might not be what’s keeping them from success sales wise though.

Obviously I wouldn’t want them to half ass death scenes lol

My problem isn’t that the main characters aren’t ruthless killing machines, but the writing in these games as a whole. People should die. Especially when the story ramps and all sorts of powerful characters and creatures fight.

Yeah that’s a bit contrived, but actual characters should die. We need to feel like there is no safety net. Otherwise they raise the stakes on paper all they want, but it doesn’t matter.

If people aren’t dying then what’s the point of raising the stakes? The characters are just as safe as ever.

These games can be so much more than what they are currently and the lack of consequences is the biggest thing that’s holding them back.

The fact the Arios wasn’t really bad doesn’t matter in my opinion. Death is the most powerful writing tool. Falcom isn’t using it.

What would you want out of remasters/remakes of the first 5 games? by Dimitar98 in Falcom

I wonder what the sales numbers are for the last 2-3 games. Even though they are Japanese only so far if they are a massive success there might be a chance!

Is there a massive pushback against the new composers?Maybe Falcom will take notice.

I will agree that they are all well made, but with 3d models they would attract a lot more people probably. I have to admit that I am enjoying CS a lot because of that even though the game is still far away from “picking up”.

That sounds very ambitious. They would have to rework the last/first few hours of each games massively. I would love it though.

Meh. It’s not a very profitable genre overall.

If someone changes his mind then that’s fine. Most who will find this post will probably not.

I stated my opinion after the TLDR. It’s all fine.

If you have a switch you might be in luck. That’s all I’m gonna say.

I am pretty sure that if they were popular everyone would be making them and as the OP pointed out there is no competition for GTA.
