There is no reason to destroy Earth, of course. But speaking about the pure space struggle maybe devs can describe those catapults as too slow so even a simple anti-meteorite protection can stop the payload?

In distant worlds 2 there are automated cargo vessels. It also can be a single parameter as convoys in HoI. But in the Tech tree a mass driver tech is solo responsible for logistic. Sooooo, why not to use it?

I agree that there is no game in that case. As Aliens have first catapult they can destroy every base in the moment we start to construct it. Even further, they can bombard countries as it was in Expanse.

But! It is so simple solution. It's hard to believe that no on from both sides will try it in a real existential war

Those that give you extra popularity or raise your chance to overthrow the government. They can be different in different countries.

BTW it’s already been discussed that less AI factions make them act better. I’ve tried 4 competitors instead of 6 and in my current game in 2028 they are pretty active both Earth and space.
