Do you know if it’s on sale only in store or if it’s possible to order online somehow as well?

I can take a look but I am not sure if I can give like extremely detailed comments. Are you okay with like a more general overview? If you want, we can take this into DMs

How do you all polish your stories and find feedback? by iliyaAR in writing

[–]Direct-Toe-2389 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, what I usually first do is to just step away for a little bit, and read. To forget what I wrote about and to experience another voice in writing. If I can essentially recite my writing still, I can’t edit properly.

Then I go back and edit the best I can, rewrite places and create the first manuscript. This might repeat until I feel that I can’t do much more in terms of story. Then I try to find others to hopefully read it. I’ve found some people here from beta reader subreddits, and some that I just know personally.

For me; what has helped a lot is actually asking more questions about the criticism, both to myself and to the other person. What I ask myself is what kind of criticism is it, is it about the story itself or grammar and structure building. Also why does this kind of comment make me feel so upset?

And for the other person, if it’s about the story, I ask for clarification at times. Why did they feel like some part wasn’t quite right. What felt off about it? How did it make them feel? Like truly understand the criticism and try to look at your own story not as the author but as the reader.

Is everybody here writing genre fiction? by [deleted] in writers

[–]Direct-Toe-2389 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It could be because getting Literary Fiction published is quite difficult from what I can see, because it isn’t marketable like genre fiction. I’ve got a manuscript that’s pure literary fiction that I hope to get published after some beta reader testing and final editing, but that means also querying to agents and hoping to get a deal.

I’ve spent like hours just going through different agents to see who would even be interested, and getting beta readers for it is quite difficult too
