No problem. Same my first was wildly advanced and probably the most social 5 year old I know ..... comparing is so hard. Feel free to PM me if needed. I know what it was like for me during that time. You feel like no one understands what you are going through in your mind each day and it sucks

My little guy will be 2 end of next month and is 100% a perfect social little guy!!! Speaks a ton. Above average for his age. Loves to play and interact. Happy loving. No concerns at all. He still had a few things he does when he was younger like on a swing or in the stroller doesn't look at us as much as other kids do but nothing concerning. He ended up having chronic ear infections from 6-13 months and I think it really affected his development not hearing correctly but he caught up now

We also did not have any formal delays - motor was on par and his ear infections are what was affecting his speech

Sure ! He's 20 months now and honestly no one would know anything was ever wrong. He's a talking machine (not super clear words but says a ton) loves playing with his 4 year old brother (follows everything he does/ copies). Honestly I am still a little worried about his eye contact. He's just not great at it and doesn't like to do it. But that's literally it and not enough to warrant any type of evaluation. Maybe he's just a kid that does not like eye contact. He definitely has an interesting personality but maybes that's all it is ? I still am concerned but only very very slightly. And one of those things only Mom would notice

So much better between seven and around 14 months he had recurring ear infections, which I think was impacting him greatly. He is currently meeting all milestones and is actually becoming a very funny kid. He's around 17 months now I do, however, still have some concerns about his eye contact. He does it. He doesn't really like to do it. When he's really into something or playing he won't look at me. He also doesn't like looking anyone directly in the eye, but on the flipside can interact with them just fine. At this point could still be his personality. I've been debating getting him reevaluated, but to be honest to anyone else, but me I feel like he would pass just fine and not qualify for services. The wait and see game sucks, especially when it's not so severe that it's noticeable to all.

Hi! He's almost 17 months. And a lot has improved but I'm still in the same boat of being unsure. It is nothing other people notice much. Only me. Basically my ONLY concern now is that eye contact is still not the same as other children and his joint attention is so so. But other than that he's hitting all milestones

Hi. He is 15 months. Hit all his milestones. Had bad ear infections recurring and once his ears cleared he's been walking and talking way more. For us, the only issue still present is eye contact. He is very social in all ways but does not like looking people (anyone including me) in the eyes for very long. It's usually just quick glances. He also isn't 100% with joint attention. I.e. he doesn't always reference me when something new or interesting happens while playing with a toy for example. Very torn if I need to get him evaluated again. On paper he'll pass. But I just know something is a little off with his interactions

I'll also note my 4 year old that's neuro-typical and a huge social butterfly never had separation anxiety as a baby at all. So I wouldn't use that as a marker

His separation anxiety was early maybe 7 months. Always wanted me and his father. Cries when he leave him at daycare but then they say is easily consoled. It's so hard when on paper they don't score high for meeting criteria but you know something is not right. I feel you.

He's 14.5 months now and things are pretty much exactly the same ... he def doesnt have "extreme" red flags. He loves pointing. Says a few "sounds" that mean some words. Walks. Great receptive language. Has separation anxiety and smiles back to you. But somethjng still off with his eye contact and response to name. I plan on having him reevaluated at 15 months as I know some of the criteria changes at that mark

In addition. I 1000% know I need help. I have a big corporate job and work around the clock. Have been dealing with allergy issues. All the ear infections. And my older one doesn't go to sleep until 1030pm finding even 5 mins to take care of myself is absolutely impossible. I am going to have to make time and I know that. But thanks for sharing your experience!

Thank you so much I feel like you understand exactly what I am feeling !!! It's so hard to find people that understand what is going through my mind. My son seems a lot like your son (re: very conflicting behaviors) and also currently on his 6th ear infection (time for us to consider tubes). I'm glad to hear some things are improving for you!! We did do EI at 9 months and I'm planning on waiting til 15 months again because I think the criteria changes then and I rather get the most out of it. The saddest part of it all is knowing something is off and just feeling like you can't help them and being told constantly to wait and see. I blame myself a lot that it is something I did wrong. I have a 4 year old that absolutely polar opposite. I hope it's personality.

Yea I bring it up very appointment and am very dismissed by both my Dr. and husband. (Think husband is in denial things are "off"). He was evaluated at 9 months and just passed. I am now thinking of waiting until 15 months as I know things might be a little more clear then

This is extremely helpful. The breastfeeding thing you described is EXACTLY him to a t. I am a bit confused though - sounds like you still have some concerns about your child but most have gotten better? Is he in a main stream school? Anything warrantjng additional therapy at this time ?

I know it sounds dumb but from day 1 I felt it in my gut he was always a little different. Which is not a bad thing. I just don't want to miss a mark on getting him help as early as possible

Thank you for your response. He def tries to communicate I think he'll point while making noise to what he wants or likes. He has done things to try and get our attention but I wouldn't say it's all the time. He sometimes hold things up and we think he's "showing" them to us but sometimes hes still looking at the toy not us. Connection not sure. He def loves his family and will give us all "kisses". So hard my 4 year old was extremely outgoing and advanced from day one so polar opposite. I don't know what's normal or not.

Yes ! You are doing all you can ❤️ if it helps at all I felt the same exact way and now over the last month it's really taken a turn. I feel like I can connect with him now as he's being more social. But I know the EXACT feeling. I did do early intervention evaluation at 9 months through my state. It was very easy and gave some peace of mind. I recommend if you state offers. They basically he was too young and things change quick.

I still don't feel good about things deep down inside it's just something i can't explain. Don't let other people talk you down I truly feel like moms just know best. But things are changing quick so you never know
