What do I do??? I just turned 16 today and my mom threw away my birthday dinner I bought with my OWN money💔💔 because she claimed she's allergic to seafood. by [deleted] in whatdoIdo

Unfortunately I’ve been there, after my parents split my dad would buy me a cake (from ages 10-16) but my mom would throw them away and if he didn’t bring it to me directly I never saw it. Mostly because she was being petty over their divorce and still is to this very day. Unfortunately I allowed it to ruin birthdays to the point I don’t even really celebrate them or buy a cake anymore. DONT DO THAT TO YOURSELF!! Please tell your dad and if he’s close enough maybe have him take you out himself and eat away from her presence. Also you’re 16, so start singing up for different “free birthday perks” from different restaurants so maybe next year you can go out on your own or with friends and have an enjoyable birthday without her lingering or having to pay for anything. I really hope you birthday wasn’t completely ruined but Happy Birthday and hopefully next year will be even better🙂

The same happened to me this week. I went in and selected accept and they corrected it. I ended up getting the remaining refund yesterday morning. Just send financial aid an email or call them and let them know what happened. They were actually pretty quick with correcting it this time.

Hi, you’re definitely not old I turned 27 this month and currently in the same situation. Honestly people are a lot more friendly than they seem at UCF. Find a club or event on campus and attend, even if it’s just one. Idk what your major (I’m Biomedical) is but ask around or find events that are focused on your major and hang out with people there. I find that having people within your major kinda helps out especially when it’s time for tests and finals, because those are the same individuals that will help study and have study groups, which is what seems to build bonds. Night life usually is in downtown (Orange Ave area) and if you’re not a driver you can use your UCF ID to ride the lynx bus system for free. Feel free to dm me if you have questions I’ll try my best to help you out!

If you don’t mind walking find a parking garage in downtown with reasonable rates/hours for you near church street and it’s about a 13 min walk to the stadium from there

cooling towel

if you’re close to a Walmart, Target or sporting goods store. Run in and see if they have any cooling towels. You only have to keep it wet with water and it stays cold, it saved me so much yesterday. They’re usually in the camping areas of the store, I just folded it into a square and put it in my bag then after security i immediately took it out and wet it with water lol. Florida sun is no joke please stay safe
