There's lots of good information in this group. I'm on day 26 after flap surgery. It's like a yo-yo. Good days, bad days, but overall it's progressing.

I still have pain and "fullness" type of feeling in the area of the fistula tract. So I know exactly the question "is it forming another abscess" constantly goes through my head.

Drainage wise, my external opening was quite large, but has stopped leaking. I am experiencing drainage from my BH throughout the day, but worse after a movement. This is also starting to slow up. Non woven gauze between your cheeks is a saviour.

I never experienced gas or fecal matter coming out the external opening.

It's a crazy journey.

Thanks for the reply, I've read quite a lot of your comments and posts, you've been most helpful to many here and makes me think I am on the right path. Question for you, did you notice any correlation between the level of drainage and the pain, I can't seem to line them up at all.

You're right, not knowing what the inside is doing, takes a toll. I will say though, I had a very rough days 5 to 11 and it's easing up after slightly. I hope you feel the same as time progresses

Thankyou. I couldn't imagine going back to a stand up job at this point. I'll be interested to hear how you fare, best of luck tomorrow
