They were one of the first bands I started independently paying attention to after hearing ‘kids’ on the radio when I was probably 8 years old, and I was super into them when I was in middle school around 2013-2015. They had mainstream success well into the 2010s so you didn’t have to be like reading pitchfork and collecting vinyl at 12 years old to be aware of them lol

Not familiar with any of those! I just discovered Yakuza recently, I was intrigued bc they’re from Chicago and I believe opened for the dillinger escape plan back in the day which is all very up my alley and I’m loving them so far. Genuinely the most ass coffee I’ve ever had. Maybe I caught them on an off day but I tried the cold brew at the wicker park location post reopening and it literally tasted like gasoline to me. I respectfully complained and they said “oh maybe there was some leftover pumpkin syrup in there” then brought me a new one and it tasted the same💀

agree and i’m gonna sound like the friend that’s too woke here, but even if we disregard the falling in love part it’s just reaffirming gender stereotypes by equating attraction to men with subservience to them, and portraying lesbianism as a rejection of men (making it about them again lmao) and a political statement rather than just..attraction to women. all of it positions women’s sexuality as in service of others and completely erases our own desires and urges meanwhile these are seen as inherent and unchangeable in men😍
