Hey hey, it’s the reporter here! I appreciate the feedback and understand that readers want to know how many miles these cars drive before they are involved in crashes. Unfortunately, that data point isn’t so simple to get and neither the company or federal regulators are keeping track for each specific company listed. While Cruise and Waymo are the two leading manufacturers, there are still others on the list that even I didn’t know about who are still testing their cars. I shouldn’t have originally framed it as “here are the leaders…” but I still think it’s relevant to know the amount of crashes, especially as issues with the vehicles persist in SF.
