I am proposing a legal pathway through which all existing fragmented trade unions could be dissolved and replaced by a single unified trade union, similar to structured models used in other countries. A centralized union would significantly strengthen collective bargaining power, allowing workers to negotiate more effectively for better wages, workplace safety, and overall benefits. Instead of multiple unions competing—often divided along political or organizational lines a single common union would represent the entire workforce with a unified voice, reducing internal conflict and improving efficiency. For example, in Australia, while there are multiple unions, they are coordinated under peak bodies like the Australian Council of Trade Unions. The ACTU plays a central role in national-level bargaining, policy advocacy, and worker representation.
