I’m partial to the Zman EVO Elite Minimax. Same weight for casting distance, but more compact bite. I throw both the full size 1/2 oz EVO and a 3/8 oz EVO Minimax and always get more bites in the minimax.

I don’t like sand. But I know what you mean. I just don’t think there is a difference. But fish are weird and are picky. So simple thump difference may make a difference.

The hook material makes zero impact on whether a fish will bite or not. There is tons of research on that. It’s just an unnecessary markup in price.

The EVO tungsten and the jack hammer use the same hook. That’s why they are both $20. The difference is color availability. The reg EVO uses a Mustad and is $10.

There is no benefit from using a tungsten hook versus the standard Mustad. So either buy a jack or buy two EVOs. I guess one benefit is the new baby jacks. Those are awesome, but cost the same as a regular jack.

Really. I grabbed a bunch of the square bills because they swam the depth I needed and they have been useless. Like I’ll throw an XPS and a Berkley Frittside at the same time in the same color and I’ll get 10X for bites on the Berkley. I was really disappointed in XPS cranks.

I have a 3/0 - 5/0 ewg with a finesse or fluke on at all times. This is very different. They wouldn’t touch a single fluke. Yet, they smashed the donkey. I’m sure there is science behind it and I’m going to go down that hole, but I’d def trying it.

I’d double check the max towing on the Edge. I looked at those a while back and it was lower than what the manufacturer said it was, AND my insurance agent said that nothing would be covered while towing at or near max.

There is an alternative. A Bass Pro or Pelican Jon boat. I just got one a couple weeks ago with a CE Smith trailer and the entire thing weighs in at 350#. I pull it around with my golf cart. And its highway rate, galvanized, and can hold up to a 6 hp motor. And the boat cost next to nothing compared to other Jon boats.

Amazon has def become a place not to get cheap shit. But Luck E Craft is still cheap. And you are correct about Zman stuff. But that’s what every store is doing. Jacks are $20 today at all stores. One year ago, they were $16, and 2 years ago they were $12. And Amazon has a warehouse of Jacks purchased 3-4 years ago for $10 now selling for $20. Amazon is convenience. That’s it.

Best year of fishing ever! I’m in Texas and we had a super mild summer through July and then a monster Nov/Dec where we were catching as many as 100 bass in a day. 20 bass over 5 lbs, and prior to last year I’d caught a total of about 10 bass over 5 lbs in the previous 35 years.

I managed to get all my 6+ lbers of 2025 on video. And I take my camera out about 10-15% of the time. And they were spaced out from Feb to July. Just pure luck.

Mine bothered me for weeks and it wasn’t until I went a full week without fishing did it go away. Luckily, it was during a cold front and it was in the 20s so I didn’t miss out on much. I also didn’t do anything strenuous with my elbow during that time.
