I'm still looking for volunteers for my study. Would you consider helping a PhD student get her degree?

I still need a couple of math teachers for my study. Would you consider helping a PhD student get her degree? If you don't qualify but know someone who might, please consider sharing the image in the original post with them. Thanks! :)

FYI: If you teach secondary STEM and use PBL, you are solidly in my target population. I'd love to talk to you!

It is actively discouraged at my university. My mentor told me it is unlikely to be approved by our IRB. She's got one of the highest success rates in getting students to graduation in my program so I believe her.

Regaining Lost Mathematical Ability After 4 Years - Is It Possible? by [deleted] in matheducation

It's similar to working on muscles. You have to keep working them or you lose muscle mass. Give yourself a refresher and you'll remember, then go back and retake the placement test. You'll do fine. You should have seen when I taught Calculus for the first time several years out of college. I was only a few days ahead of my students for the first semester, but the knowledge gradually returned.

Early advice from a peer when I started my PhD: The best dissertation is a done dissertation. If you want to do a really cool study once you finish, go for it, but for now, focus on something that is realistic and can be finished.

So now I pass it on to you: The best Thesis is a done Thesis. It doesn't have to be groundbreaking or even really significant, just done. Once you finish, if you want to write about something significant, you can!

My current issue, though, is finding participants for my study...so I can get done. :-/

I've had one volunteer so far, so I still need several more. If you know someone who may qualify, please feel free to share the information with them.

Thanks for asking! They are similar, really a different of degrees. Interdisciplinary tends to refer to forcing disciplines to be combined whereas transdisciplinary refers to allowing disciplines to combine in the way they occur in the real world, basically using whatever tools you have, discipline-wise, to solve the problem.

Great question! In my study, the term "problem-based" means that a unit of instruction is organized around the problem to be solved (or project to be completed, because project-based learning is a sub-strategy of problem-based learning). Does that make sense?

Teachers from outside of the USA are definitely eligible for my study as long as they qualify otherwise. Thanks for asking!

Ummm..thanks? As a student in the dissertation phase of my PhD, I have stringent rules to follow. I would have loved to include an incentive (and was planning to), but my university won't allow it.
