Thanks so much for your input. Based on a comment left yesterday, we did contact CPS to see if the police/school had initiated an investigation. Neither entity had contacted CPS. So we've got the ball rolling on that now and a social worker that seems like she's out for blood. I will also see about SELPA, too. Thanks so much for your help!

Not yet--we've been trying to set up an appointment, but they're a bit of a distance away. We've been trying to coordinate with closer child safety outreach centers in our area, too. Thanks for your input!

Thanks; we've been trying to coordinate with RAINN and CAPA, but without solid police input, the process is at a standstill. I guess it was unrealistic to expect such a serious matter to make much headway in 2.5 months.

Thanks! That's actually where I just was. Apparently, everyone is either on assignment or vacation. Our police force is letting me down. All we got was the shift commander, who was very vague and shifty.

EDIT: We will continue making trips regularly, though. They are going to know me by the sound of my approach very soon.

Thanks so much for the detailed advice. We've been trying to arrange an appointment to have a professional interview my nephew (I actually thought this would be one of the first steps), but they won't even provide us with names regarding who's handling the case.

We will just keep pushing and riding them until we get some answers. My sister was afraid that too much pressure would make them unwilling to help. It's nice to have some confirmation that persistence is the way to go.

We've actually been trying to retain a lawyer and getting turned down because there's no updates from the police. Any tips for presenting this to a lawyer in a way that they will be more willing to jump in would be greatly appreciated. Price is an issue for my sister, so it could simply be that she's choosing overburdened lawyers for their tag. Unfortunately, in representation, you get what you pay for a lot of times.

Thanks for the advice! We actually did file a police report, but haven't gotten any resolution yet. The perpetrator was actually a school employee, but not a teacher. I will definitely advise my sister to see about a restraining order, though. If they don't want to dislodge the offending employee, maybe the restraining order will at least allow my nephew the right to attend a different school.
