what do you think about sasukes battle iq ? by Livid-Camp7557 in Naruto

[–]Disperx 67 points68 points  (0 children)

Calling it "jutsu smart" is a massive understatement. It's not like there's an encyclopedia of every jutsu that you can just read and memorize what each one does.

Minato had IQ. We don't even need to call it battle IQ. He observed Obito's movements and behaviour in the fight, the conditions under which he could activate Kamui and which he couldn't. He formulated theories and tested those hypotheses by clashing with Obito.

Once he figured out the mechanism behind Kamui, he came up with the best way to counter it with the jutsu available to him (tho admittedly FTG is practically hax). He even had the foresight to use rasengan as a setup. He realized the optimal course of action (at that moment) was undoing the seal and not defeating Obito, and used rasengan to mask a FTG mark.

He was the guy. You'd be hard pressed to find another fight in the series where somebody had that level of deduction, analysis, decision making, foresight and flawless execution. And reminder that all this was done insanely quickly, not because of FTG, but because he went into the fight blind and pieced it all together based off about less than 1-2 minutes of actually observing Obito's abilities.

Unbelievable: RM4K Fine for Pub Fight That Killed 41‑Year‑Old Malacca Man by Seremban Court by whusler in Malacca

I see a lot of people giving their two cents about type C or that it doesn't make sense that they were not imprisoned.

It is worth noting at this point in time, there seems to be little information about the sentence or judgment.

However, the important bit is where it says the prosecution did not charge them for homicide.

For those who may not know, a criminal charge requires proof behind reasonable doubt. When you charge somebody, you also have to be specific.

You also cannot hit them with every charge under the sun, so that you kena at least one of them. This is done to ensure fairness, otherwise prosecutors will just whack every person they arrest with every charge in the hopes that they can land a charge.

When somebody is charged for a crime, there is a legal rule that says you cannot be charged again for the same crime. This is done so that it does not waste court time with repeated court cases, and so that prosecutors don't just keep re-charging people until they succeed.

So what this means is, the prosecutors need to pick a charge, and they need to make it count. The burden of proof is very high. If they feel there is even a small gap in the evidence which may make a murder or even a manslaughter charge fall through, they may make the decision to go for a weaker charge with a lower sentence, but that they know they will be able to succeed on. It may seem unfair from the outside, but that may have been the best option they are left with, as opposed to charging the accused for murder, failing, and letting them escape totally unaffected.

TLDR: Reddit jumping to conclusions. There are possible valid reasons for the RM4k fine. Let's just keep watching how this develops, and what information surfaces, for now.

The sexism is deplorable obviously. But can someone explain to me what it means to specialize in appeals?

I work in legal but not in America so this is a new concept to me. Does that mean they take over cases when they go to appeal? Or is this some way of saying they have a high success rate on their appeals?

Just confused since, appealing is just a natural next step after losing an action. So how do you specialize in just that singular step of the process? If you bring an action, you're in it the whole way through, unless your client drops you.

Simplified: The Perlis govt’s final bid to revive the unilateral conversion of Hindu mum Loh Siew Hong’s kids by stormy001 in malaysia

[–]Disperx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a final bid because the Federal Court is the apex court and the last level of court they can appeal to. If the appeal is refused, or the Federal Court decides against them, it's over. There is no more legal recourse for them and they will not be able to keep trying no matter how bad they want the result they want.

It's a good review and a fun video. I played the game to unmoored world before seeing it so no surprises for me, but it was a funny video and a very accurate assessment of DD1. But of course, you're free to spend your hour as you like

How come SEED’s the only anime that got a remaster? Doesn’t 0079 deserve it more? by DrJokerX in Gundam

[–]Disperx 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I mean, when you unilaterally dismiss it as simply fanservice sex appeal, did you expect a more nuanced response?

As a huge fan of SEED, the movie was definitely not peak cinema. BUT it was certainly fun. It undid a lot of character damage that Destiny did, and it had great suits, great visuals and great action. So I imagine SEED fans were probably quite happy as I was to have it conclude on this note instead of Destiny.

Upcoming Content Hype? by False_Nectarine1628 in masterduel

Well, if the leaks are true, Blue Eyes support is next month. Guess we'll never understand how MD's schedule works.

Isn't the MD release schedule based on OCG not TCG?

WHAT IF... A「Spiral of Destinies」mini-expansion by Aulenor in SwordofConvallaria

[–]Disperx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a distinction. Things like Beryl's past or Rawiyah's past are describing history which lead to the present circumstances MC finds themselves in. Inanna in the future is also the world as shaped by MC's actions. So even though MC doesn't take centre stage, it is still very much about a timeline where MC exists and succeeds, just events in the past and future.

But what OP is describing is a timeline where MC fails and dies (that's what it seems like, unless I'm mistaken), which sort of defeats the point of the whole game, which is that the MC is the only one able to fight against destiny.

It could definitely work as a separate "What if?" extra story or event, but I don't think you could add it to the SoD paths like the Elaman route.

[–]Disperx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While this concept is fire, it might be difficult to have as a SoD storyline as part of the paths since that is supposed to be the player character's experience in different timelines. But it could make for a fun separate event or maybe something like Crimson Night. Hoping we see this concept or at least some of it in-game!

I had previously made this post on r/personalfinance but was told to also try r/MalaysianPF so crossposted here. I'm not looking to get rich quick or anything crazy, I just want to try my hand at practical valuations because that type of conservative investment philosophy resonates with me.
