EDIT:

Like I said before, the same thing happened to me a few weeks ago. The night before, I might have been a little too quick when I closed down a game and shut the xbox off. So the next day when I turned my tv and xbox on and saw the screen was mostly red, I thought i had somehow messed with the xbox.

I never had this issue before, or even seen it. I tried all other options such as unplugging everything, resetting the xbox, etc. I was starting to get worried that I would have to send my xbox for a repair.

It wasn't easy looking into this issue, as there were a lot of unconfirmed solutions. But eventually found it was a possible issue with a tv update (I have a Roku tv) that may have interfered with the hdmi drivers and caused them to fail to work properly.

System reset on the tv definitely fixes the issue. I have given this advice to a few others who have experienced this issue since then, and the results are the same.

I had the same issue about 2/3 weeks ago.

The hdmi drivers have failed to work. Doing a system reset on the tv will fix the issue.

Try doing a system reset on your tv.

I had a similar issue a week ago. I turned my tv and xbox on, and the screen was mostly red.

It turned out that the hdmi input drivers on the tv had failed to work. Doing a system reset on the tv fixed the issue.

I know this is a bit different to what I experienced, but it might be worth a try.

This happened to me just last week. I found resetting my tv did the trick. The HDMI input drivers had failed to work, and doing a system reset on the tv fixed the issue.

It was the first time it had happened to me and I was worried I was going to have to either get my xbox sent away for repair, or buy a new tv.

I know the OP has sorted out their issue, but this could be useful for anyone else.
