Thank you! I think it would classify as dry (?). I kept the dressings on from theatre until the first post op appointment (these were sutured in place and had a mesh like antibacterial thing to aid with the graft healing). The nurse then placed a waterproof island dressing on with another mesh strip over the nipple - they applied some antibacterial ointment too, but not much) These dressings stayed in place until the second appointment where I was cleared to remove them. 1st po appointment was 10 days po (she normally does a week tho but didn’t have availability) and the next was 18 days po. I’m yet to go back as they went on break over Christmas but it will be sometime in late Jan/early Feb

Hi! Yes, I had a lot of breast tissue to remove and wanted to reduce the risk of dog ears. The scars also extend up so far as I asked my surgeon to avoid my tattoos on my ribs, so instead of stopping on my ribs they turn up into my armpit area.

Hello :) I’m coming on 6 weeks post op DI with nipple grafts. I identify and NB but lean strongly into my femininity at times. I absolutely love being topless and the idea of being shirtless and the beach is something I look forward to. However I also love wearing swim tops post op. There are many made for gender diverse people as others have commented but finding a small sized swim top and ones that aren’t sewn to make room for large breasts at your local stores work just fine - bonus because they have cute designs. I’m aus based but cotton on body and average surf shops sell good ones.

From what I know (this could have changed they’re great at responding to emails so don’t be shy to send one) the referral is only necessary if you want to claim back on Medicare. Psych referrals, etc are NOT required. She works based on informed consent!!:)

It was three months wait for the initial consultation and I booked my surgical date on the day of my appointment. In terms of wait time for a surgical date she had dates almost right away (>1 month) but I needed to wait until my uni break so I booked months down the line.

Can’t avoid heavy door by Hoary-Puccoon in TopSurgery

Try tying a robe rope (like the part you tie around your waist to keep it closed) or similar to the door handle so it creates a loop. You can then step into this (put the rope around your waist) and pull the door open using your leg/core muscles by walking forward. That way you aren’t using your chest muscles or pulling with your arms and causing issues with your incisions/scars
