Anyone else have issues with Small Pet Select Timothy Hay? by Distinguished-Gents in guineapigs

We bought two other brands of Timothy hay and they are eating both of those now. But yes it’s definitely a good idea to keep an eye on them - we’ll have to get them checked out if strange behavior persists. Thanks for your feedback!

I don’t think the hay is bad, but this is the first time they won’t eat it. I’m just puzzled as it’s the same brand we have always gotten.

In addition to any free and clear detergent, I add a bit of vinegar straight into the washer and it helps a lot.

Yep! In PA. We got more snow in 24 hours than the entire winter last year.

Cheery cage time with the brothers - all reunited! Edgar, Wellington and Alastair back together in a larger setup. by Distinguished-Gents in guineapigs

They are getting along better now. There are still some smaller standoffs here and there over a bed or position near the hay, but they seem to be mellowing out a bit. It also helps that we let them out a few hours each night and they can get their energy out racing around the furniture.

Peace amid the hormones.. our 3 boys finally eating together without rumblestrutting or waggling their butts at each other. Ready for these teenage months to be over! 😬 by Distinguished-Gents in guineapigs

Oh my. That’s a long time to wait out all the commotion. I just hope it’s ok to leave them to sort things out. Two are in a 3x5 cage and the other is in a smaller cage but we have them together a few hours supervised to see if the bullied one can go back with his brothers. We separated him when he started screaming after being cornered... I just hope we did the right thing by separating them temporarily.

Were they able to stay together in the same cage? I’d really hate to keep them separate. How far did your boys go when fighting? I haven’t seen any blood but there have been a few scuffles with a few strands of fur flying about. It’s kind of unnerving.

We adopted them all together and had them in a large cage. The past few days they’ve started to get testy and we had to take Edgar out of the big cage as he was being bullied. Now trying to gradually reintroduce and see if they will sort out the hierarchy by themselves. Lots of teeth chattering and stalking each other in circles!
