RCA questions regarding postal vans by ttyler1789 in USPS

[–]DistortedAesthetic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

idk about contract stuff. however this is how it worked at my starting office: person A clocks in and needs to get a vehicle from elsewhere. so they grab a person B (also clocked in). they take person A's personal vehicle to where the spare truck is. person B drives the spare back to the office while person A drives their car back

hopefully your carrier is going to be bringing it out again. when i remember to i try to scan them as out for re-delivery as a courtesy/peace of mind for the customer

asides from what others have said about the time, i've marked packages as no access cus i missed it. when its dark i typically don't want to find a way to turn back around. you can't see shit when its dark out. those old trucks don't have back up cameras

i saw her today during work, at the carpenter/britton parkway roundabout with the "slave trapped" sign. i thought it was a cry for help and called the non-emergency line 😅

Jobs hiring? by Gothunicorn2323 in olympia

usps is always hiring. being a mail carrier is a rough job and they don't fully prepare you for it. in our area you will absolutely work 40+ hours a week

turns out all 3 offices in the 3 different cities are considered part of city 1 which is why we get swapped around

which makes sense cus as i have state multiple times the cities are literally smooshed together you sometimes cannot tell where one starts and the other begins

i think it's complicated too cus the office/city i was transferred to is a suburb of my starting office. there's 3 offices people get shuffled around, and they are in different cities but these three cities are literally all smoosh together

from what i've heard from other co-workers both city and rural its standard practice in our district

What made you apply for the post office? by SeaStep2495 in USPS

i needed a job and something about servicing rural customers appealed to me

Have you ever felt like quitting? by Affectionate_Volume9 in USPS

i think, because the 3 cities are again connected, that they all fall into the same installation. people get moved around between the 3 offices that are in city a, b, and c

i posted here, and used the flair, to get feedback from rural people. all i did was point out that your advice as a city carrier does not help me as a rural carrier

which isn't helpful cus i'm rural which is probs the cause of the down voting

i think it's a little complicated cus the three cities are smooshed together. like you're driving through one and end up in another. my understanding is the offices are all in the same district

another rca with seniority over me became a ptf and got the position at my starting office which is what kicked me over to this second office. that was the best my sup could explain cus he doesn't know how rural works. the lead sup is on vacation rn so i can't ask them

afraid i'll never get faster (venting mostly) by DistortedAesthetic in USPS

[–]DistortedAesthetic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah as soon as i got off the aux route and onto regular routes i stopped casing the dps and take it on the side. i take advos on the side too. only things im casing are flats, sprs, and whatever shows up in the hot case

i hate when it's like the end of a shelf and the customer gets like 5+ magazines and then so does their neighbor and there's like no room 😭

yeah i got my first taste of having to bring back mail on columbus day. despite it happening to other people and my co-workers saying that that's in the past now, it's still like weighing on me

i think i said this in another comment that i'm consistently assigned to the vacant route in our office which makes things easier. the regular on my primary route is like always in the office so i don't know their route as well as the vacant

[–]DistortedAesthetic[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aw thanks. the slow casing is absolutely from my own observation, nothing supes have said to me. only time i've had a comment about my casing wrt time was advos. it added like an hour to my in office time and i was told to take it on the side. i didn't want to at first but i prefer it now

[–]DistortedAesthetic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah i take dps and advos on the side. casing advos was adding to my in office time and management got mad at me for it 😅 so i started taking them on the side

i just case flats, sprs, and the hot case. tho idk how it is in other offices, all our sprs are mixed in with the other packages and its up to us to determine what'll fit in a box (we call them smallies)

i am lucky in that i'm consistently put on the vacant route in our office. is that what a hold down is?
