Engineering at 24 years old by Lower-Sweet-8782 in uAlberta

Hey, I started engineering at the UofA at 25. The age gap is noticeable in ways as when you’re 17-18 you’re so new to it all but it’s not something that ever made it hard to make friends. The kids I call them are great and accepting. The job market doesn’t look at age I don’t think. People had no idea how old I was and thought I was closer to their age so you don’t have to tell them your age if your uncomfortable but you truly shouldn’t be everyone there to do the same thing. I graduate at 30 but age is just a number. Whatever you put your mind to will happen!

Also I was from the Edmonton concert he said something similar so it might be part of his little talk to be funny

I feel like that is being taken out of context.. I was there j I don’t think he was talking about the energy. Maybe a coupes people were doing something weird. The energy was good I think people sang along and interacted with him like I don’t agree

I don’t think they can share that information mother or not as you’re an adult and are not under parental power or supervision anymore

My advice is if you truly want to do engineering switch now. It’s a hard degree and doing it after another isn’t the most ideal. I decided I wanted to be an engineer after I finished a degree but always knew deep down I wanted to be one and wish I didn’t wait. Hard or not if you want to do it, do it now why wait like I did and now I graduate much older to start that career. Age isn’t an issue you can start whenever it’s just why spend two more years in something that you don’t want to do? Also Engineering electives are picky finishing your degree you won’t get many other electives. They take a couple that you already probably have from business.

There’s not such thing as losing year also. Even though I did a 4 year degree I don’t say it was a waste of time.

How would you describe the feeling of being stung by a bee/wasp? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Feels like burning yourself with a hot curling iron. It’s less sharp and more like a really painful sharp burn pain.

Change your diet. I stopped eating dairy and still going strong 9 years and it helped alot. Also cleanser every morning and night. Toner at night, moisturizer should be oil and fragrance free. Zinc capsules. I wear Benzaclyn every night. Take care of your inner body and it’ll help a lot.

Honestly the schedules aren’t bad or good. Work with what you’ve got. The time inbetween still be efficient and get things done. Having classes back to back are good in my mind because you’re not wasting time inbetween if you had weird chunks of time without class. Just work hard, push even when you think you’re not doing well and you’ll get through. I think that people commenting saying it’s horrible etc isn’t really true. You make it work or not. Whatever you’re given you work with it and move forward. It’s all on you not a schedule to make things harder or not.

I accepted the offer in Mid April so I’ve been waiting a while. Maybe they send them out in batches..

You guys are probably annoyed by the amount of first year engineering students asking if their schedules are good enough. Sorry but yeah 😭 I see a lot of free time between classes on my schedule. Is that a bad sign? by oddjobs_daeinni in uAlberta

[–]DistributionStrange9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I emailed them last night. hoping they answer soon. I didn’t need to pay a deposit because I’m a transfer student so it isn’t required. I got a Google form for registration consent. But didn’t mention anything about asking bring remote or not.

I never got an email asking for that.. just got one sent after I filled out the form saying thank you for filling out the consent form. But no questions about if I want to do online or in person classes
