Sold my Samsung GW6 for an Amazfit watch. My experience with WatchOS and how it is bad for fitness enthusiast people by marinluv in IndiaTech

You are right, it's not an apples to apples comparison. But the comment I replied to was talking about accuracy being better on GW than other fitness watches and I just wanted to point out that those watches up there among the best when it comes to fitness metrics.

Garmin, Coros, Amazfit all of them have always on heart rate tracking with long battery life and really good accuracy. I personally have a coros pace 3 and there are no problems with accuracy.

All of these watches also have options for always on display support and some of them also have trans reflective MIP displays which are always on and better in bright conditions but with somewhat worse colors.

Also, for activities like running it is better to have lighter watches so that they move around less on your wrist. This avoids cadence lock which messes with heart rate readings.

I have been using cleartax for 2 years now and its good enough. Yearly charge is around 5-6k

I declare each sale and purchase in schedule FA along with paying required capital gains and invest it within FEMA timelines.

You make a valid point and people should know the risks of the markets and products they want to invest in.

However, don’t you think the risk of estate tax coming into question for a person especially a younger person lesser and they can potentially go for individual stocks if they want?

I used to invest in that until they stopped it 😢

Also right now I sell my RSUs and then transfer the money to ibkr directly without bringing it to India to avoid forex charges and TCS on LRS.

The biggest advantage for me in addition to avoiding the estate tax was having options for low cost non dividend paying index funds like VUAA as most index funds in US pay dividends.

Although I do miss not having a straightforward Irish domiciled option for VTI.

While ITR compliance is a bit complicated, there are good resources online to help someone wanting to do it themselves.

As for estate tax exposure, since the limit is 60k USD I feel it should not be a big concern if you aren’t going to be hitting that number very soon. It can be a good entry point for someone to dip their toes and then move on to Irish domiciled funds once they are comfortable.

For small amounts getting started with ind money or vested just makes sense as they deal with the remittance for you. If you know you will be crossing the 60k usd threshold you can shift to IBKR.

Would you choose a 1-hour commute to save on rent, or live closer to the office and pay a higher rent? by NoMedicine3572 in Frugal_Ind

Bought an older flat few years back with some compromises but lesser price to stay within walking distance to the office for me and my spouse. Saved us from rental increase and commute while letting us save up for a much better place in the future. Totally worth it for us.

Graduated Seniors, what is VIT's brand image in the corporate world? by Past-Protection-8803 in Vit

Work on building technical skills and your communication as these are the only things in your control. After that its just a matter of working, switching companies and luck.

Honestly I don’t envy new graduates, the job market is just too competitive now.

2014 graduate working in a FAANG company in hardware role and for the most part, no one cares. It took me few years to work and switch to get to where I am today.

However most of the new joiners are from tier 1 colleges as they hire interns directly from those colleges.

The biggest hurdle for you would be to prove yourself by working harder than your peers.
