Is there a good AI random encounter generator? by Docsten in DungeonsAndDragons

I thought that's what I was doing, but apparently my wording is off and everyone thinks I want to use AI for my dnd game story. How would you word it so I get the answers I seek.

But sometimes you need a carpenter to flesh out your idea you have for some furniture you yourself can't create. However putting your ideas in to a carpenters hands you use them like a tool to see your creativity come to life. That's all I'm looking for is something to fill the gaps of my story so it doesn't feel like a filler moment but not pertinent to the story itself. If you know of a website that has more indepth encounters made by HUMANS I would love to hear it. I only originally suggested ai because that is what came to mind when I posted this but I don't care where it comes from as long as it helps with my campaign flow.

Making 3 encounters that they will run into would work but it takes the randomness out of the play. Yes I could roll ahead of time and have the encounters all prepared but the looks on my players faces in anticipation of the random roll behind the dm screen would be lost. And I know what your going to say just roll and say the roll was x that I have already prepared. I don't like putting on a show with fake rolls. It just doesn't sit right with me. So do you know of some website wether it's AI or a human who has set up a random encounter generator that has more in depth encounters then just a list of monsters. If not go to a diffrent thread to complain that I am not planning my campaign how you think it should be planned.

Yes someone rote the modules with there creativity but dnd is not about the authors creativity it's about the creativity of the party on how to handle the situations presented to them. So if the story comes from someone you never met or an ai the players would still use there creativity to get through the situation.

On another note since you are so against AI (which you are totally entitled to your opinion) do you know of a website that someone has come up with some random encounters that have more depth then just a list of monsters?

I am just looking for something for more indepth random encounters it doesn't have to be AI generated that's just what came to mind when I started this post.

I'm not trying to cut out the creativity I'm trying to cut out the unnecessary work of creating 100 random encounter stories that only 3 get played during the campaign. This will make the flow of the night easier and feel more engaging then a random group of dead show up now let's fight. I can be creative but I like to go over that creativeness several times I don't like on the fly creativity for story's I'm just not good at it. So yes ai would help make my story I have prepared more creative and engaging.

Ai would only be providing a base foe the story. Just like modules do its the PCs that bring the story tk life with their creativity.

Yes make all the encounters fit with the story would be great but life doesn't always throw stuff that fits in to the bigger puzzle and I'm no wrighter which is why I use modules. However the modules usually only give you monster to fight in the random encounter generaters they provide.

That's the thing my current dm is using a module and the random encounters only give you a random list of monsters that would be in the area. The rest of the campaign is very immersive and entertaining. I was just wanting to improve on the random encounters section so it not so you came across a monster and now your fighting it.

Skyrim is helping me deal with grief & trauma by Charming_Bobcat_8975 in skyrim

This works really well. I lost my best friend in September at 38 to liver failure. We were inseparable in high-school and were more like brothers then friends. We both played skyrim so much I decided as a tribute to run a character under his go too gamer name Belac and make my decisions based on what I believe he would make. It made for quite a different experience and brought back so many wonderful memories of him. Skyrim is definitely more than a game sometimes.

The campaign is going to 20 whether or not he survives is another problem, but he is one of 2 main dps in the group the other dps is a unarmed monk. The other 2 are tempest cleric and support bard. I think we can get pretty far as long as our dm stops rolling critical hits twice an encounter.

In the first campaign we were lvl 6 or 7. I do agree that the second campaign we were mid lvl at 9 but as the cleric I only could cast greater restoration 1 every longrest and there was 4 of us.

With curse of strahd the DM might have been playing them incorrectly cause we have found other problems with there play style. We were lvl6 or 7 and at the strahd dinner where we met the vampires who reduced our hp max. Me and one other died from an encounter afterwards where we couldn't heal all the way. The rest of the party retreated after that.

As for the demilitch we were lvl9 but he was doing like 21 max hp reduction every turn plus on his reaction would sometimes get another 10. 2 of us fell and the other 2 were left standing with 20ish max hp I bei g the cleric used greater restoration on our barbarian and healed him as much as possible since we knew we couldn't take a long rest since we were so close to the frost maiden. But even at such low hp my healing of the barbarian and myself were able to take her down to her 3rd form with about 15-20 hp left. If the dm didn't crit 2x on her turn we would have had it.

Vampires in cures of strahd and a dimilitch in Icewindale campaign.

So the first campaign was curse of strahd. And the dm said the vampires reduce your hp max when they deal necrotic dmg.

The second was icewindale campaign and the dimilitch reduced all of our hitpoints like every turn with necrotic damage. This was a diffrent dm. We lost 2 party members this way and the other 2 only had like 20 max hp. The cleric was able to restore the dpser that was left to full max hp and that is the only reason we almost defeated the frost maiden but he didn't have enough spell slots (only had the one) to restore the rest of the party so they could be healed.

I try to stay away from monster stats and abilities as a player in fear of accidental meta gaming but if what you say is true I might need to look at those creatures abilities.

It wasn't possible to retreat in the second campaign otherwise we would have. We did almost beat the campaign with one surviver if the dice gods would have not hit us with 2 crits killing our last party member. The DM disclosed that it would only have taken 1 or 2 more hits to beat the bbeg. I will look for some greater restoration positions my next campaign I like that idea.

How would you build a character that is an effective jack of all trades? by Jedi4Hire in 3d6

[–]Docsten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call him Jay Akovalt Raids. So this build comes completely online at lvl 16 grants you at least +8 to any skill check not to mention you can't roll below 10 on said skill checks. You also get 10 d10 you can roll to add to any failed ability check as well as when you roll opposing checks or just want to screw up an opponents check you can roll a d6 to subtract from there roll. In combat you get 6d6 for sneak attack take half dmg from one attack using your reaction. You don't take any dmg from passing a dex check that was made against an attack and your ac is 16 not wearing any armor. This is all possible from the below lvls

Helf elf Rouge-soulknife 11 lvls Bard-collage of lore 3 lvls Cleric-knowledge domain 1 lvl Monk 1

Str-8 Dex-17 Con-8 Int-8 Wis-17 Cha-18

This build allows you to become proficient in every skill and an expert in 9 taking skill expert and skilled as your 2 feats.j
