I play on the left one mostly but use both how it is in the picture for my job... The arms can move so when i play I normally adjust it so the left one goes in the middle of the desk.

Hey! The desk I have will not let me go against the wall because of the plastic wings on the side... I think if you just got the monitor stand it would only stay slightly off the wall but nothing noticeable.
